Nintendo owns the rights to the original song, which is attributed to Toru Minegishi and Shiho Fujii.  This was made with 5 tracks, 1 with percussion, and 4 melodic.

Here is some 8-bit music I've composed! It's the start of an 8-bit music series I'm doing, which will involve composing short tracks that fit the classic retro genres, such as RPG, Platformer, Action Adventure, Puzzle, you get the idea.

This first piece is the kind of music you'd hear on the prelude/prologue of an RPG, whether it occurs before or after the main title screen. In my head, I imagined a simple background, perhaps of a castle, with slow scrolling text filling in the player with some story context. A classic way to start an RPG!

I've strictly used 4 channels of sound here, to try and keep it as authentic as possible. I didn't use a tracker, I used the Super Audio Boy VSTi. I love it, but I wish I had picked up Super Audio Cart in the Black Friday sale. Big regrets there. Hopefully it's on sale again over Christmas!

I've stuck my own reverb on it as a personal preference, so it loses some authenticity there. I know that Super Audio Cart has a SNES reverb setting, so if I do end up getting it I'll use that in future.

The second in my series of 8-bit RPG Music compositions, written for an imaginary game. 
This piece would likely take place as the adventurer is setting off on their adventure for the first time, perhaps leaving home.

The third in my series of 8-bit RPG Music compositions, written for an imaginary game. 
I imagined this tune to be the theme of a strange kooky shop that the adventuer comes across in their adventure, a shop that sells all kinds of knick-knacks and potions and things. And I bet the store owner has some kind of secret...

8-Bit RPG Music - Shop Theme

The fourth in my series of 8-bit RPG Music compositions, written for an imaginary game.
The title is pretty self-explanatory - this is music intended for a royal castle of some sort. This setting is a classic trope in old school RPGS; perhaps the player arrives at the castle very early on in the game and finds that something tragic has happened - a kidnapped princess or a stolen crystal. And the King personally needs your help!
Anyway here's the kind of music you can imagine playing in this castle.

This one was in thanks to the Newgrounds CEO, Tom Fulp, for everything he’d done for the community, and for helping me recover my account when I got hacked. The original piece is called “The Endless Loop”, which wasn’t very fitting to this, seeing as this was a full, ending song. I wanted to give this more of a feel-good, poppy aura. Something that you’d want to hear on the Newgrounds startup page. The banjos were a nice touch too. This went over very well with the community and was used in numerous Newgrounds events and flashes. This was definitely a more successful piece of 2006.

Hello! My name is Adam Haynes. I am a music composer, arranger, and orchestrator, with a First Class BA Honours in Music Composition for Professional Media.

My music is mainly inspired by video game music, and the western classical music periods. My biggest inspiration is Nobuo Uematsu, and his influences are apparent throughout my compositions. I enjoy the use of strong and memorable leitmotifs and passages, and I hope that the listener will be whistling or humming my tunes subconsciously at the end of the day :)

Most importantly for me is to make the listener feel something when listening to my music - happiness, sorrow, excitement, nostalgia, if I can provoke something from just one listener then I feel satisfied with what I've created.
