Midnight Frozen

I recorded this in 2017 and 2018 using only a Teenage Engineering OP-1 and its internal tape recorder and never shared it. I recorded mainly during travel and channeled a rough year into it. Looking back it isn't very good but considering the workflow of the OP-1... well here it is, for posterity.

A know-it-all once suggested the Dadanaut ought to turn his gaze inward. He did – and what he found was at once surprising and unsettling. As Goethe noted in 1810 in the preface to ‘Theory of Colours’, every attentive look tends to become theory; here, objectivity proved impossible, because the subject was the self. The way there was blocked, and the real battle lay in discerning whether the obstacles were real or imagined. He even checked into the infirmary and sought help, yet no definitive resolution presented itself.

These pieces are remixes of tracks from the album ‘Der Zeitblick einer Minute’. They may veer towards the melancholic – though melancholy can be its own kind of happiness. Best experienced on headphones – mind cinema guaranteed.
