For those who are already familiar with Grim Lusk’s varied recording projects, established elements are further developed as sublimely demonstrated on the sample and loop based ‘Search’, a dub / lo-fi hip-hop excursion that shuffles and shimmers before becoming more narcotically lysergic. Free from constraints, we transcend into ‘It’s My Nature’, as all of that serotonin depletion is suddenly transformed into nutritional sustenance. A gleaming, hallucinogenic, hypnotic collage of exotic rhythmic disco percussion patterns which blossom and take flight to the sky above like the wildlife on the front sleeve with uninhibited adventure and freedom; a luscious, evocative, beguiling anomaly. ‘Sea Club-Rush’ develops the experimental shape shifting, with a dense, sludgy quagmire of oddball techno discombobulations, before the record submerges into the deepest of voids, a k-hole induced sense of purposeful confusion and disorientation.

"Depressurised as if drifting in the mysterious vacuum of space whilst subtle layers of distorted bass prod at you to keep you afloat, ‘It’s Happening’ utilises a descending Risset glissando to leave you barely clinging on to reality, almost as if you are experiencing an astral projection but trapped within a detached nightmare that you can’t escape. ‘Yes He Did’ has an infectious and killer bouncing boogie bass guitar spread over a lopsided beat which never quite settles; weaving in and out further bewitching your mind. The record culminates in the downtempo ‘Laces’, pulling you into the all-consuming squelch and pressure of the suction below; a claustrophobic suffocation that intensely builds up suspense, squeezing and melting as it develops. Reminiscent of Sherwood’s exceptional technique of incisively slicing, cutting and pasting manipulated dub / industrial percussion, ‘Laces’ works equally well at 45rpm.

In its fullness, the sounds presented on ‘SUNP0101’ are an intoxicating slip down a neon-lined chute into eternal dance floor darkness. Immaculate sleeve artwork by Australian-born, London-based designer Brodie Kaman

The extensive new record ‘Café Kotti’ by Nick Klein & Wilted Woman arrives on Alien Jams as the first collaborative release from the duo. Recorded in one session, the 50 minute piece is the culmination of a long working relationship between the two artists. Berlin-based Wilted Woman - who previously released her ‘Home Listener’ EP on Alien Jams - collates her signature analogue electronics and glitch-ridden intricacies to the new explorative piece. Pairing up with Brooklyn artist and Primitive Languages co-founder Nick Klein (L.I.E.S., Alter, BANK Records), ‘Café Kotti’ was recorded during the performance ‘Program: Etc.’, an exhibition by Domingo Castillo on November 10, 2018 in Berlin. Broken up into two parts, the haunting A-side skews eerily under-surface melodies that interlace with feedback, winding loops and noise, whilst the B-side teases in dark rhythmic patterns and pulsating synths to create an intriguing atmosphere. As a result of the exhibition, the collaboration explores various themes:

Earlier this year Osaka-based producer @Metome released a vinyl EP, 'Shibboleth', on new Brussels imprint supərpawərz.

The explorative six-tracker, which ducked and dived between club, poppish tropes, grime and even nu-jazz motifs, came complete with artwork from the talented Oliver van de Lugt (or @AirMax97 to you and me)and is now being released digitally with a pair of remixes from @TotalFreedom and @Renick Bell thrown in for very, very good measure.

Today we're thrilled to be premiering TF's take on track 'Gumball'. In case it wasn't obvious from the brain-melting track intro, the vocal sampling and the meticulous manipulation, this is Total Freedom in his remixer element, as he keeps the essence of the track intact while giving it a new lease of life in a way only he can.
