Brown Angel: Hope of the Consumptive

Adam MacGregor (b. 1974) is a guitarist, vocalist and sound experimenter who works within and across the idioms of extreme metal, noise rock, free music and noise/power electronics.  Since taking up guitar as a thrash metal-obsessed teen in 1989, the intervening years have seen him in pursuit of a personal vision marked by explorations of extremes of density, dissonance, speed, complexity (balanced with outright abandon) and more recently, melody.  Currently, he plays in the Pittsburgh, PA-based noise/metal band Brown Angel (Sleeping Giant Glossolalia) and is bassist/vocalist for no-wave thrashers Microwaves (ThreeOneG). He remains one half of the free-improvisation duo Orlop (founded in Beijing, China, 2013) with drummer Stephen Roach.  His solo ventures include the long-running torus and the heavy post-punk/pop studio project, Soft Corner.  MacGregor has performed with Creation is Crucifixion, Fate of Icarus, Conelrad, Adams and the Blackout, Nomad Queen, Anla Courtis, Ryan Unks, Li Jianhong, Li Qing (Soviet Pop/Snapline), Ben Opie, Amy Hoffman, Yan Jun, Vavabond, and Klaus Bru.
