That Paddy's Day was a very fine day 
But the pub was empty where I played 
"Liven it up now the barman cried”
All in vain — everyone was outside
Soaking up the sun for the day was a rare one 
All-blue sky and spirits high

The parties starting at Spanish Arch
With plenty preventing mouth's being parched 
Post-parade on the hottest day
In memory by far for an Irish March

Paddy's Day was a mighty craic day
But I felt a lack, why I couldn't say
Till I had a moment and then I knew 
'Twas you being away and I missing  you 
We were just friends up to then
But something was new for me and I hoped for you too 

The evening brought a different scene 
In a heaving Taylor's I trying to sing 
To wall of of sunburnt lobster skin 
Through the din and the smoke you came in 
Out from the crowd like a beam through a cloud
"This is it now" I knew right then

And we went to the world of familial convention 
I'd had enough of messing by then 
But carried my tunes to vent 
With diddly blues, new sentiments 
And tape and pen and scattered notes
Echoing the soundings of unknowing poets

The postman goes door to door
Some call him a snail
But when the power’s down he can cycle ‘round

When the goggler’s down and the screen is blank

CORK’S SCREW HILLS

Cork is a city with a rake of steep hills
That’s why we walk and talk up and down
Like the swinging clingers in a musical film
Shur we’re always breaking into a song
	Can be sharp as Finbarr’s spires if you try to go too high
	Or flat as a walk by the Lee
	Anyway it’s dacent no matter what you say

Stroll up the Long Steps too fast and you’ll be wrecked 
But you’ll get a beautiful view of the town
	Summer hills and silver hills, corkscrew, Military and Shanakiel

	Go up Lover’s Walk to the Tank Field
	And look down across into Páirc uí Chaoimh

Cycling’s alright if you’re in an Lár or next to the Lee
But not if you’re from anywhere besides
How oft as a child did I wonder like
Could I freewheel down into town and back down out again
	Pedals are no use – you’re either rolling or on hoof
	‘Pushbike’ is the right name alright

Adam Murphy is an Irish songman. He has seven fully produced albums of original material – ‘The Lazy Load’ , ‘The Idle Dreamer’, ‘Half-Way’, ’The Human Spirit, ‘Green Blues, Black Ballads, and Some Normal Songs for Guitar and Piano’, ‘Everyone’s Special’, and the newly released double album  ‘Out of the System’.
Having worked for periods in Europe, the US, and UK, he now performs regularly in Ireland, and his material has been aired regularly on RTE and various other radio stations. 
Adam has a very broad range of musical influences and can swing prolifically between gentle folk or jazz to hard blues rock. A man of many moods.
