2 track acoustic guitar song recorded using a 4 track cassette recorder around the year 1995. It is the 2nd of 7 dubs of the same song. I found and transferred this from cassette to digital at 24 bit recently. The sound is a bit warbly at the source because it is a cassette and a fairly old one, but works with the feel of the song. I used Reason for some eq and limiters. Output at 24 bit and uploaded to soundcloud.

Doctrine is a short three part song written for the soundtrack in my head. I do not have a longer version of this recorded. Doctrine was probably the first song I ever tried to write without a guitar (and no guitar parts). I believe this was finished in summer or fall of 2004.

LOTR Return of the King came out in dec2003 and this was written over a segment of it (just for fun). So I had the dvd or something. The entire track was written, arranged and mixed with Reason on my system in a corner of my kitchen at the time. No live instruments were used, it was all programmed. I was also experimenting with limiters and blending the various instrument tones. Really basic mastering with Peak.



Doctrine - Instrumental

Alone is a song i'll be honest and say I never would have expected to get recorded. You'll kind of either love it or hate it, but it is what it is. I'm using the Zoom effects and creating a modulator with the MXR+ pedal. The weird nose is the song, but it seemed to work. Killer bass track in here. There is a clean track that plays behind it and is actually the same performance. I learned to split my signal to create the two tones of one performance around this time. Marshall JCM and Fender Twin for the amps and Les Paul jr for the strings. AB selector and I added a compressor around this time too. Copyright 1998 Adam Oliver. adamoliver@me.com

Guard The Sun is a watershed song for me played in drop D. It was first recorded and released on the Broken Toy album around 1996. This version is recorded closer to 1998 in Studio 2 at Chicago Trax and final mix was at Studio Chicago. This version is played in E and has a different feel than the original.
