Hailing from Portsmouth, UK, Rich Jones alias Operator champions a techno sound that, although purist-compatible, doesn’t cut itself from the wide array of sounds that’s fed the genre for over 30 something years of its existence. This week’s mix from the British jockey and producer, who's amassed a string of reputable sorties on the likes of MORD, Blue Hour, CLR, Soma and his own imprint, Gnosis, gets us vibing to a cross-curricular two hours of funk-charged salvos, high-powered 909 moves and further Detroit house-y divagations that make the most out of each bar to send shivers down your spine. For years Enkō has been synonymous with the Portuguese techno scene and his fusion of classical elements with modern rhythms to create an immersive, rhythmic experience, a long-standing trademark. He is known for co-hosting Lisbon's popular SUMMA cult party with Cravo, where a groovy techno output attracts a diverse and passionate crowd. Beyond performing, Enkō's influence in Portugal's electronic music includes roles in radio, music production, label management, event management amongst other creative roles.

His sound, honed during his music technology and sound design studies in Leeds, UK, reflects a diverse and dynamic music background and his experience fuelled collaborations at festivals like Latitude, Leeds Festival and SHHH_IFT. Back in Portugal, Enkō founded projects OBRA, OCASO, and HAYES Collective, promoting artist collaboration and the promotion of electronic music throughout the country.

Regularly performing at esteemed clubs and festivals, including Gare Porto, Ministerium Club, Waking Life, Boom Festival and Basilar, Enkō's journey showcases his commitment to enriching techno's landscape with deep, engaging rhythms and a forward-thinking approach.

Mike Parker joins the podcast this week! The aesthetic or theme behind Mike’s music is easily of the most recognizable in techno today. The hypnotic and minimalist approach to his music often results in tracks featuring nothing more than a synth and a kick drum.

In this episode, Dustin goes in-depth with Mike about the reasoning and the process behind this approach. The two recount Mike’s resurgence of sorts about 5-6 years ago. They also dig into Mike’s music history, his career as a college professor, the recent debut of his live set, and what’s making Mike tick as a DJ today. He released his Lustrations LP in 2014 on Prologue along with a slew of great EPs on various labels since then. January saw the release of a remix comissioned by Spectral Records for MATRiXXMAN’s debut album, Homesick.

Adam has been instrumental in the development of Manchester's burgeoning techno scene since 2003 and the inception of his own hugely successful Locked event. Since then, and as his profile has grown as a selector, his expert knowledge of electronic music and underground techno has led to a further high profile residency in 2010 at one of the UK's most respected and diverse electronic music events, Detatched. Adam is comfortable warming up a crowd as he is performing a headlining set and showcasing a darker and more powerful style. He has shared the stage with many of the greatest techno DJ's in the world, including Go Hiyama, Makaton, James Ruskin, Steve Rachmad  Oscar Mulero, Surgeon and The Advent playing at some of the UK's finest underground techno events including Voodoo, Colour, Sequence, Future Past and as far afield as Poland and Amsterdam.
