Tale Of Us present a new collaboration with Vaal for the sixth release on their Afterlife label. Three years after they teamed up for ‘Concur’ and began to tour together, the trio return with their most anthemic offering yet. Vaal’s hauntingly-beautiful and instantly-recognisable vocals are the centre-piece on ‘Monument’, building on the style of her Wander To Hell EP (AL002). The drums and shimmering synth lines are moody and uplifting in the way Tale Of Us have made their own, arranged perfectly for the psychedelic breakthrough.

On the flip side, ‘The Hangar’ takes a different approach to equally devastating effect. It pumps with added urgency and a thunderous, steely bassline lunges out from the low-end. Designed for large soundsystems and big rooms, ‘The Hangar’ finds Tale Of Us and Vaal at their most direct and it’s something to behold.

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes (AL007). They both take on ‘Monument’, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive.

Tale Of Us & Vaal - The Hangar

After their impressive debut on Watergate this past summer, Adana Twins deliver two stunning tracks on their ‘Jupiter’ EP finally curbing any anticipation of their return to the label. Both tracks are beautifully crafted cosmic journeys into the “headier” sonic spaces, perfectly balancing powerful grooves and euphoric melodies.

‘Jupiter’ kicks off with relentlessly pulsing low end that carries lush harmonies and breathtaking shimmers of synthesis to a stunning crescendo leaving an indelible experience not soon forgotten.

‘Sequence 01’, already tapped by Tale Of Us in their most recent mix for the famous Fabric Mix Series and reviewed by Resident Advisor as “a bona fide belter, all squaling, pitch-shifted synths and a beat insistent enough to rouse the most resolute of wallflowers", follows suit yet takes a slightly softer approach.

It’s a wild ride where dreamy pads and flickering melodics embrace a hypnotically infectious groove resulting in an overwhelming dance floor encounter. It’s apparent now that the Adana Twins are back, better than ever and going nowhere soon. Enjoy their ‘Jupiter’ EP!

Premiere: Sharam - Amnesi (Olivier Giacomotto Remix) [Yoshitoshi]

After a brilliant contribution to Truesoul’s V/A in 2017, OC & Verde land their debut EP on the imprint.

It’s been a little under two years since the Mancunian duo dropped ‘Naaki’ on Truesoul’s VA compilation, giving label followers the first taste of their classy sound. The duo’s imitable knack for producing groove-driven dancefloor heat make them a dream fit for Adam Beyer’s daytime sets and when the label boss warmed up Drumcode Festival playing B2B with Ida Engberg on day 2, it was OC & Verde’s ‘Cloak & Dagger’ that highlighted the early shift. 

The perfect primer, ‘Cloak’ builds anticipation in spades thanks to its slick mix of exotic chords, tribal chants and incessant bass melody that runs throughout. By contrast, ‘Dagger’ is intended as the stirring closer to a party, marked by swirling synth effects, pads and a dramatic melody line.
