London-based label Botchit & Scarper are all set to release 'Push Play', a double CD compilation album to raise money for the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT). To help promote this fantastic cause, we've teamed up with the pioneering imprint to offer you a free track from the album, produced by none other than jungle veteran T.Power.

'Push Play' is inspired by the tragic passing of Sonia Akow, a DJ, label A&R, PR associate and one half of SOTO - the breakbeat duo she formed with Toby Edwards - who was immersed in the scene until she died in July last year. When Sonia was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2012, a plea was put out for a bone marrow donor. A benefit gig was held in March 2013, raising nearly £15,000 for various leukaemia charities, but sadly Sonia lost her fight for life only a few months later.

Named after Sonia's PR company Push Promotions, 'Push Play' brings together 25 tracks from a host of Botchit & Scarper artists, including the Ragga Twins, Deekline, the Freestylers, Atomic Hooligan, T.Power, Pyramid & Jay Cunning, Ben & Lex, the Moody Boyz, Rennie Pilgrem and Lawgiverz. All proceeds from the compilation will go to the ACLT, making this a fantastic opportunity to buy some great music and help out those in need at the same time!

Most T.Power fans describe his past works as "progressive" or "experimental". Fair enough. Those are the best adjectives for describing a style of music that doesn't quite fit into "button-down" labels or categories. By no means has this been an intentional digression from "mainstream" or "popular" music on the part of T.Power, but rather a candid and somewhat naive curiosity for exploring the boundaries of music and unlocking caged frequencies. When asked to describe the underlying intention behind the recent creation of Adastra Recordings, T.Power replies, "It's about being grounded in what T.Power was originally about. It's about going back…but with new nomenclature, new mathematical expressions for music and understanding what's possible with sound and harmonic theory…and taking the timing and pitch off the grid. It's about orchestrating waveforms so that they're emotionally all encompassing. It's about workflow and music production based on judgment rather than luck. Most importantly though, Adastra Recordings is about separating art from product." Fundamentally, the creation of Adastra Recordings is proof that T.Power is coming home, except this time he has a new set of master keys. Adastra Recordings is a record label solely dedicated to all future T.Power releases.
