Infatuation

This was written on 14 August 2018 to diss a friend of mine, and then revised later on 22 November 2019, in response to a "sassy song" challenge that my bestie at that time challenged me to. Enjoy.

Liar

This piece is titled "first four" because I took the first four notes of a transposed version of Lascia chi’o pianga. The excerpt of the Sarabande by Handel was transposed from the original key F to C, so the first four pitches I used were D, E, F and G. I created a framework out of number combinations and rules to determine the outcome of the piece. A single combination which I chose to stick with is repeated throughout the piece. This combination repeats after the first play, just that I made every repeat turn out different, in terms of the filters and tools used. The outcomes of the combination were executed by a piano MIDI instrument and four sound effects tuned to the four pitches used.

Here is "Take Flight" for string quartet, performed by the talented Bergamot Quartet! Was such a pleasure to work with them during MATA Jr. 2020. Despite the composition workshop process being an online one, I still managed to learn a lot about writing for strings, so I found MATA Jr. 2020 to be a very valuable experience.
