Exclusive Iain Howie 'To Forget (Whitesquare Remix)'

Based in Vancouver Iain Howie has made quite an impression with  releases like 'Fleur' or 'Visional' which both were released on German/Canadian label Rhombus. His latest music, 'To Forget', though sees the versatile musician leaving his mother-label to join 'Needwant'. With the release of the original version of 'To Forget' fairly two weeks ago, the time has come to expose Whitesquare's reinterpretation. As the original version thrilled listeners with a preference for downtempo/ left field-ish, Roman producer Maurice Uzzan adds rhythmically woven percussions to the layers of pads, the hazy chords and the vocals and therefore creates a totally different vibe as he raises the beats per minute from 111 to 118, too.

Iain Howies 'To Forget (Whitesquare Remix)' will be released November 2nd, 2018 on Needwant.

Ash Is’ music looks to emotive and affecting moments to capture a sense of post-club energy. Fluttering arpeggios, dusty breaks, warm pads & feeling laden melodies often feature. From the PCDJ music scene of mid-2000s Scotland to his local club scene, the Edinburgh-based producer melds many influences. His music subtly features his immediate situation and surroundings, from sampling the Leith shore soundscape to the seagulls of Aberdeen.

This past year has been one growing in momentum for Ash Is. He’s involved in three Edinburgh club nights, including his own - the forward thinking In Bloom. There’s been a recent September track hosted by popular YouTube & Soundcloud channel Moskalus following  similar support from OOUKFUNKYOO. Last year also saw digital releases on Edinburgh/Glasgow outfit Minder and Ghent’s Turtle Time Records.

This release on Perfect Motion, Ash Is’ first physical output, is something he sees as a new stage. Conceived during, created during, and shaped by long winter commutes. A house three-tracker full of post-club emotion. Morning Beam calls forth faded memories of the afterhours and the travel home. Siren sounds and fluttering pads engulf an eroded break as an ethereal voice reminds you of its disembodied belief. What It is quietly introduces those doric seagull recordings, combines them with sliding synths and filtered rhythmic chords and then places it all over a large 808 kick. The record closes with a slowburn roller: Don’t Listen 2 Him.
