As we finish off an incredible year for Addictive Behaviour our last release of 2018 salutes 5 years since the label’s formation. Celebrating this proud milestone, we have curated a various artists LP featuring a host of our favourite producers from past and present.

To mark this occasion twenty-three fresh cuts have been laid down from a select roster of talented artists, some of which have played a pivotal role in sculpting the label’s foundations and some which will be play a huge part in the evolution of Addictive’s future soundscape.

You’ll find fresh remixes and VIP’s from the likes of Scar, Fre4knc & Kyrist. There’s debut appearances from Wreckless, Narrate & Sam Harris, Objectiv and D’TCH. And of course there are a number of tracks from regulars of the Addictive camp including Data 3, Invadhertz, Philth, Handra and many more. The 6th release for the emerging Addictive Behaviour label comes in the form of relative scene newcomers Handra – an exciting new duo hailing from Poland – who’s dark, yet at points liquid tinged, minimal take on DnB hints that we will be hearing a lot of from these two in the future. 

The two cuts on offer, set for worldwide release on September 15th, combine a nice ear for melody and harmonic progression alongside top notch sound design and banging, uncomplicated, rolling dancefloor beats. Elements of found sound, lively up the compositions adding a unique twist to their tightly coiled, minimal old school referencing productions, with disembodied pitched vocal samples offering up almost Burial-esq moments of emotional nostalgia.

Coat of Dust kicks things off in a sombre, reflective mood, with sun soaked piano riffs combining with a ping pong vocal sample, rhythmic foley and sound effects creating a moving backdrop for the tune to reside in. Warm, undulating slabs of classic 80s reese  bass finally unite with a crisp, rolling drum track, peppered with unique sounding one-shots, clinical drum fills and techy bass fluctuations creating a nice juxtaposition of liquid and dark, minimal styles.

With heaps of experience to draw on, and a forward thinking label backing them, we can only imagine that big things are afoot for Handra.

TR Tactics, the producer and DJ duo from Austria, have been storming up a lot of people’s lists of artists to watch in 2014. After releases on Citrus, Disturbed and Dissected Culture, they drop ABREC07 on Addictive Behaviour, their latest and greatest work to date.

Minor Rain is an artist of real diversity and depth who has a deep emotive connection with the music he produces. An accomplished musician who plays piano and sax, drawing on influences from a range of diverse sources from film scores and sound design to artists covering all spectrums of electronic music such as Noisia, Audio, Amon Tobin and Hans Zimmer to name a few. Taking inspiration from artists of that caliber, high-end production values were always going to be an integral part of his work, this providing the foundation for his musicality, with the two elements complimenting each other perfectly. He’s an artist whose aspiration is to produce something truly unique and original. 

His latest release, forthcoming on Addictive Behaviour, highlights his ability to not only work at different tempos but also how he’s able to go from the melodic, to the dark and minimal or stylishly blending both laid over precision engineered drum edits.

Shimmering high hats, reverbed bleeps and haunting strings open the Flux track before a short kick and snare leads to the breakdown. Crunchy vox sounds combined with filtered drums and metallic synths ready the track before dropping into a big growling metallically industrial synth and weighty sub that drives the track on. And with a few subtle synth and bass switches this makes for a polished, dark and techy slammer of a track.

Handra join forces with the talented Mortem here and from the opening salvo of primeval drums, arpeggiated bass and stirring opaque pads, the track shapes into a dark shadowy piece of contemporary DNB. Tight rounded kick, chiseled snare hits and titanium tinted high hats provide the ingredients for the geometrically precise beats. A fierce, neolithic, axe weighted and cavernous bass, hammers through the track with the supporting blips and bleeps adding some svelte texturing and balance to the mix for a glacial, cold edginess that perforates the entire arrangement for a real steam roller of a track. Utter badness.

Opening with the eerie spookiness of a crypt, the dark, synth chord progressions lead a path to glassy hats and skeletal shuffling breaks before dropping into unrestrained, bouncing, ratcheting bass fluctuations. Spiralling distorted synth hits and a viciously snappy, spatially dimensioned drum pattern takes you through a porthole to the darkest back channels of DNB.

The technically adept L33 steps up on this one. Spearheading the assault are some fierce infectious beats and coarse, vibrating saw synths. Effects laden flickering pad patches fill out the left and right hemispheres while a murky, rattling and centrally hitting low end bass chamber anchors the beats and reigns the whole arrangement in for a tight sounding, meticulously produced firing neuro smack up.

Opening this release, a glassy, plucky and precarious intro with airy and angelic vocal pads battling a rising structure of edgy drums for space. Chucked around like a skinny kid in a mosh pit by some ferocious, gnarly stabs accompanied by a vicious snare this one twists and turns like an out-of-control roller coaster. One year on from the launch of their inaugural “Rotation” programme, Addictive Behaviour’s various-artist shuttle orbits earth once more. On board this time, a crew of 21 intrepid pioneers, bringing with them a diverse spectrum of musicality and D&B engineering expertise to the quest. Armed, locked and loaded with an assault of sophisticated phonic weaponry, their mission is simple. Audio annihilation!

This 2nd chapter to Addictive Behaviour’s dynamic album series is their most ambitious project to date. An otherworldly journey showcasing an edgy and explosive array of raw talent from a collective of old and new artists from the Addictive camp. Embarking on this Rotation, and making their label debut is an impressive ensemble of well-known names as well as fresh up and coming, cutting edge producers. Nick Bee rains in the darker, techy vibes with his “Ghetto Politics”, as do Kyrist & Babarix in their obliterating “Maikuro Funk” collab. Meanwhile, Release, Tephra & Arkoze, Data 3 & Modu provide their own unique variations, beaming with moody subs and percussive vibes, encapsulating the Addictive Behaviour tone to great effect. Philth adds a fresh, melodic, vocal composition to the deep end of the mix in “The Big Question” whilst Dom & Roland’s Xanadu is commissioned for remixing duties delivering an explosive new take on Detail’s “Breakout”.

Talking of which, joining the new recruits on this expedition, long term label regulars Detail & L 33 step into the fray, flexing their elements of neuro-tech styles and adding momentum to this growing satellite of revolving music production. Also on board this charter, some recent Addictive additions. Mystic State’s “Eye Contact” and Nami’s “Downpour” push the audio transit on with their bass fuelled roller’s rocketing us in to unknown territory.

Finally, kicking in the afterburn, are the Rotation – Part One veterans. Artifact returns with another relentless aural display in “Materialist” whilst Fade brings a heavy metallic attack in “Hold Tight” Finishing off the universal carnage TR Tactics are joined by relative label newcomers The Clamps to bring us a full on neuro assault in “Conscious”.

Rotation –Part Two will be making it’s re-entry in to Earth’s atmosphere on September the 30th. The 14 track LP is an awe-inspiring amalgamation of complex layered productions showing us once again the label’s ability to evolve. An immersive and varied, frontier pushing display with one unifying theme echoing from its core once again. . . Good quality production.

Already cited by many as "ones to watch", Data 3 are a trilogy you are no doubt becoming familiar with. Formed in just 2013, their next level production has given way to an explosive launch, firing out releases on a plethora of cutting edge labels with track support coming from the likes of Noisia, S.P.Y, and Technimatic to name just a few. March the 24th sees the return of the trio to Addictive Behaviour with their debut single 'Something Strange'. A mystifying release taking you on a journey of sensory deprivation into an unknown world.

'Something Strange' opens the gate. Haunting pulses of eerie synths and magnetic drums draw us in before vanishing into the shadows as a creepy vocal of a tormented girl prepares us for the 'Upside Down' we are about to enter. Then, raining in, a thunderous, 90's-esque reese bass rumbles up and down in waves, carrying you along whilst throwing you around like a rag doll. This one is pure dancefloor vibes, oozing with quality, tight percussion and solidly crafted subs. A typical Data 3 affair but tinged with an old school darkness that makes this track a potential future classic.

2017 is set to be a defining year for Addictive Behaviour. Over the past few months the label has truly found its sound and we’re dishing it out relentlessly in the months ahead with multiple parties lining up alongside some boundary pushing music. Our second release of the year sees our predominantly tech-roller outfit return to vinyl ventures with a 3 track wax EP of epic proportions, mysteriously titled ‘New Age Myths’.

First up on the release roster is the illustrious Kyrist with her cryptic tale ‘The Drifted’. Opening with some incredible atmospherics you are instantly transported to an unknown land, like a ship that’s sailed into hostile territories. The cinematic production builds momentum before fading out with a haunting crash. Suddenly, out of the void creeps an intricate drum pattern with sharp synths cutting through, catapulting us into new realms. The sound design in this track is extraordinary, switching and fluctuating with every bar, captivating to the very end.

Next in this chronicle is ‘Basilisk’. A collaboration from recent Addictive production trilogy Data 3 and relative newcomers Revaux. ‘Basilisk’ entices you in with eerie vibes. A trickle of rasping hats and shuffles alongside airy pads swimming under the filtered surface. Then a human like cry fades out to introduce fierce bass and kick drums as this monster rears its heavy head. The track pulsates along with ferocity, the rhythm constantly flowing. You’ll find it hard not to give this roller the old D&B head nod. It’s sure to be shaking the foundations of dance floors over the coming months.

The final chapter is told by Mystic State featuring the gritty talents of MC Tension on the mic. ‘Blurred Vision’ creeps in slow and stealth-like before chopping in a heavy kick-snare beat. Then it’s over to the sharp tongued Tension to give it that murky vocal lick. “It’s action re-action, reload the ammo to obtain satisfaction” And satisfaction is bang on the money here, as we drop in to subby, gravelly basslines and hard edged drums that will make you want to reload this one for another dose of pure fire. Hard hitting expertly crafted D&B, the perfect fix for any addict.

The New Age Myths EP is a musical chronology that sounds like it’s been sent straight from the future. It brings together a pedigree of young talent, all of which are destined to become big in the game. To celebrate this joint effort release, we’re throwing a launch party for the EP on Good Friday. The opening track 'Fossil' unearths a meticulously engineered rhythm as Data 3 deliver another dose of their defining sound. Creeping in with a dusting of percussion and a pressure building kick-drum before rolling out a thick modulated bassline and aggressive growls, transporting you to another world.  This track is full of character, constantly switching and fascinating till the end. 

Canyon Dreams is next and cuts in fiercely with a solid metallic jungle beat to open up. Sinister tones build to a sharp drop characterized by an unsettling crackling synth that buzzes along like a swarm of killer bees. Interspersed with sticky drum breaks and tinged with eerie pad work, this is another beautifully crafted piece of work from a solid production outfit that are relentless in their output. 

Returning to the fold with two of their finest cuts of music, this production trio is solid and continue to define their imprint on the drum & bass scene.

We begin with this three track treat from the man known as Objectiv, who first made his appearance on Addictive's recent 5 Year's album with his stunning liquid vibes in 'Obligation'. He returns with this head-spinning 3 track single, demonstrating some solid & diverse productions skills from the London based producer.

Each riddim on offer brings a different flavour to the release. Opening strong with 'Tape Pack', a techy stepper delivering a snappy punch with crispy sticky drums and intricate percussions in the mids. Stalking close behind is 'The Greyhound' in track number two. This fast paced heavy hitting dogger is in a class all of its own and hotly tipped by big headz and music press to trigger an all new dnb Sub-genre. The urban hipster's are calling it a "Rolley Roller". All we know is it will get those subs a woofing! And to finish, a collaboration with producer Teej titled 'Absolute'. Objectiv and Teej's versatility is shown here, with its majestic build-up in the intro dropping out into twisted bassy stabs. A real moody dance-floor killer.

For Addictive Behaviour's 38th release Manchester born producer Lao Wai teams up with Swiss singer/songwriter Krizia Bass a.k.a. LaMeduza to bring you two stunning original cuts, showcasing a unique mix of dark, brooding production complemented by sinful but soulful vocals.

Lao Wai now living in Bologna, Italy has been steadily flexing his production prowess with past releases trickling out on prominent labels such as Horizons, DCI4 and Avant Garde. Such were the skills of the young producer that he earned a credit in UKF's "One's to Watch" in 2018 and has since been prolific in his output dropping releases on numerous top quality labels this year before making this debut on Addictive.

Geneva based, multi-talented and experienced vocalist LaMeduza also makes her debut on the output. However with a release catalogue that spans across a vast number of top calibre labels, LaMeduza is no stranger to the D&B scene. Renowned for her deep and enticing voice, she soaks each tune in her alluring melodies adding the final touches to the two original mixes.

To add to this already firing EP, each piece has been given the re-lick treatment by two of Addictive's remixer favourites. Tie Me Up has a fresh cut from heavyweight production duo Scar with New Grounds receiving the alternative mix from the man known as Philth, each artist unleashing their own elements of weighty grit to the tracks and rounding up a seriously impressive array of music

Continuing the saga, Addictive Behaviour's Rotation LP spins round once again bringing with it a multitude of talent from across the globe. Previous iterations of the esteemed Rotation series have featured a mix of rising and emerging artists alongside AB faves and regulars. This fourth instalment doesn't break tradition, bringing with it an abundance of fresh new names alongside some very recognisable pseudonyms.

However the one vast difference in this year's offering is the size of the album. The Rotation roster has certainly grown year on year, but where past editions have featured between 8 and 14 tracks this year's offering will be stacked to the brim with an epic 26 brand new cuts curated from over 30 top drawer, future thinking artists who each bring their own unique blend to the table.

Rotation Four is a colourful display of varied styles showcasing an inspiring array of music making skillsets but all of which express that familiar Addictive sound and high levels of production.

To round up Addictive Behaviour's fifth year since inception the imprint will be signing out of 2019 with a three track release that sums up just what the label is all about. This, their 40th release, comes from none other than OaT, the German production mastermind who is rapidly rising through the producer ranks and is hotly tipped to become a staple part of the new era of D&B. This second EP with Addictive once again shows OaT's incredible diversity and ability to create a brand new sound across each of these three very unique cuts.  

From the opening, heart pounding and metal sounding reese bass that characterizes 'Expectations' you can tell that OaT bleeds his heart and soul into every element of his productions. This title track from the release is loaded with some serious weight that will resonate in your eardrums for years to come. Then flipping the release on its head, the mysteriously titled '144k' edges in a contrasting vibe of mechanical rolling beats tinged with moody distant vocal stabs, showboating OaTs ingenious production subtleties. And last but not least is 'Conviction' a track which builds and drops just as the title suggests, picking up the pace again with some tight and techy drums complemented by its warped bass. 

Since his debut EP on Addictive OaT has managed to secure releases across a host of outputs and is quickly becoming recognized as a pioneer of new music. Breaking away from the generic cast and bringing a breath of fresh air with each and every production.

It’s not very often that we see 8 fresh solo productions on an Addictive release. But so impressed was the label by the vibrant alternative sounds in a recent collection of demos, we decided to curate this thrilling and energetic release from the man known as Soul Defiance. AB have been nurturing Soul Defiance since first releasing a track on the label’s Rotation Four LP. Watching closely as his production skills have evolved, both producer and label are now ready to unleash this arsenal of music to the world. 

Soul Defiance - “The Cyclical EP opens with the track 'Verges' which was the defining piece of the EP. This whole piece of work was about me pushing myself to get better each time I sit down to write music. It's about feeling like you're always on the verge of getting to the next level in your art but never quite getting there, hence the name. I'm glad people will be able to hear what I've been doing and how things have progressed - big love to all the DNB heads!”

The Cyclical EP goes full circle with its diversity of styles bringing a different flavour in each piece, delivering a rounded collection of music that is suitable for all seasons. Soul Defiance thinks outside the box with his writing and it shines through here!

Addictive’s next release come’s straight out of the Drum & Bass epicentre of Bristol, from the talented production mind of Modu A name that has been reverberating throughout the South West D&B hub and beyond for some time now having released on a myriad of labels including Lost, Delta 9, Horizons, Celsius and many more. But it was his collaboration with Xanadu on Dom & Roland that first pricked the ears of Addictive Behaviour back in 2015, which led to Modu firing out tracks on numerous compilation LPs with the label over the years.

Now he is back with a debut EP on the imprint delivering some of his strongest work yet. Usually famed for his harder edged, techy production, but for this EP Modu returns to his roots firing out some original soulful liquid, teasing in beautiful vox stabs and deep subby flows. There’s also some incredible jungle drum work with choppy amen breaks in ‘Music’s Prayer’ and some out and out filth in ‘Gorgon Project’, showing that Modu is by no means a one trick pony.

Modu’s passion for production began with these melodic soulful vibes and it’s great to see the producer return to this style, following on from his free giveaway track ‘Flashing Gold’ at the beginning of the year and now unleashing ‘The Gorgon Project’.
