Gifted, a tribute to The Jam

The Specialized Project. We started in 2012 as musical community initiative to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and recently we also support The National Foundation for Youth Music and Tonic Music for Mental Health. Members of The Specials and Madness are on our board of Trusties.
 
Since 2012, the Specialized Project has released five highly acclaimed tribute albums. We’ve celebrated The Specials, The Beat, Madness, The Clash and most recently Bob Marley. 

On November 30th 2016 we announced our intention to compile Gifted, a Tribute to The Jam. This album will boast 65 tracks by The Jam covered by artists from all around the world.  

The album features both professional and amateur musicians including Lynval Golding (The Specials John Wheeler (Hayseed Dixie) and Missing Andy who's debut single "The Way We're Made" reached number 38 on the UK Singles Chart and number 7 on the UK Indie Chart in September 2010.

Bands from Fourteen countries are represented on Gifted. Including New York's Rude Boy George, Los Chicklets from Mexico and Pat Powell from Australia. The Valkyrians of Finland and Men of North Country from Israel  Other countries represented include France, Spain,Germany, Russia, Japan and Argentina.

This four Disc CD Boxset is now available from www.specializedproject.co.uk and events arranged by The Specialized Project, including the Big One Festival in Poole November 10 - 12th

We play a range of original music from mellow rocksteady to full throttle thrash, but mainly levelling out in the Ska/Punk area - think Rancid, Specials, Inner Terrestrials and Crass, but as far and wide as The Paragons to Discharge. Check our lyrics page out for what we're about - we say what we think and we're not shy about it!!
We've shared a stage with literally hundreds of bands already but most notably:Andy T, Asian Dub Foundation, Astronauts, The Beat, Buzzcocks, Dr & The Medics, Eastfield, Ed Tudor-Pole, Eureka Machines, Goldblade, Highliners, Inner Terrestrials, Jaya The Cat, John Otway, Lawnmower Deth, The Lurkers, Moral Dilemma, Natural Rhythm, New Town Kings, The Offenders, One Way System, The Oppressed, Paul Carter, Poundaflesh, Random Hand, , Restarts, Rico Rodriguez, Roddy Radiation, Sick On The Bus, The Skints, Steve Lake (Zounds) - as his band!!, Stranglers, Subhumans, UK Subs, Virus, Zounds and many many more...!! 
All gigs are full of energy, from a solo acoustic set to a full band explosion, there's no point coming to our gigs unless you wanna burn off some energy - we hate boring audiences, luckily we can generally kick up enough fuss to get people moving!! We play anywhere, we're not afraid to travel, we've been up and down the country - Scooter Rallies are a particular fave - just ask Sticky Rock, Can't Start Won't Start, Yorkshire Scooter Alliance, Huddersfield Scooter Club, Odd Mod Squad for a start. There's a rumour going round that we do covers and are available to do these for functions, weddings, bar mitzvah's etc. This is true - the covers range from 50's Rock 'n Roll to simple 90's Rock, with a heavy dose of ska/reggae thrown in. But be warned, we're not a tribute act, we play our versions of those covers and are only for genuine fans of punk, ska, etc - they're fucking awesome, but only if you like that kinda thing - we take most of our function bookings from recommendations, ask for details. So that's us - we're a straight forward band, we turn up, we play loud and fast, and we're not complicated!! This is our finest hour.
