Addition by Subtraction are beyond excited to announce ABS006 due for release on October 21, later this year. 

Pushing Australian artists alongside global ones is something we feel deeply passionate about at Addition by Subtraction. Inviting Nate S.U to kick off the release was therefore an absolute must as the Sydney and now Barcelona local has been making serious waves across the globe. You may recognise Nate from co-running Conspiracy with previous ABS recruit, Elijah Something, or through his signature production for his very own When Dogs Fly - regardless, he has been one to watch for sometime now having released on a variety of world-class labels like Gene on Earth’s Nug-net. It’s safe to say everything has fallen into place for the artist as he continues to turbo charge his name around the globe. A1 and A2 bring a deep yet bouncy groove, a unique feel that piqued the ears of Enzo Siragusa who ripped into ABS006 at Fuse Barcelona as well as Voigtmann at Houghton a couple of weeks ago. Timeless tracks are hard to come by and we feel Nate has truly delivered with Eastern Turbo and Jerry Don’t Do Desserts. 

The B side is strongly backed up by Frenchman Occibel. About 10 years ago, he started making music with absolutely no background but it was an “insatiable desire to create my own songs'' that brought about the rise of his incredible talent. Now signed to the esteemed Chevry agency in France, Occibel’s production is highly recognised by his driving electro bombs that light up any and all dance floors in peak moments. B1 and B2 were crafted with this in mind, so for all DJs that have been given the gift of controlling the dance floor, enjoy the reaction of Occibel’s Open Minded and 7 Miles, loaded with cheeky vocals and energising basslines to boast a stunning journey from start to finish.

The place was chosen perfectly too – CV05 with DMX Krew is one of my favorite records of the last years, on top of which Club Vision Records got a very nice VA earlier this year. Bogotà born and raised DJ and producer Nicolas Duque has been lighting up the scene following a string of VA contributions and his perfect pop-tinged UKG debut EP on Breaks ‘N’ Pieces’. Since then Duque has gone on to release music that flirts with nostalgia and contemporary electronics on Dansu Discs, Magic Carpet and Limousine Dream sublabel Nug-Net, merging house with various UK flavours. Now he makes his debut on Situ-888 with a futuristic four track EP demonstrating his fluidity between genres, this time opting for 4/4 kickdrums and pleasure-seeking bleeps.

The sound of swinging hi-hats and classic bass notes churn as the record starts to spin, before distant electronics and crowd roaring grooves take hold in opening track ‘Ritmos Contundentes’. ‘The Unforbidden Track’ is the perfect follow up, this time introducing acidic leads and festival ready chords brimming with warmth and light. The Aptly titled ‘Ting-a-ling’ opens the B-side in a playful mood, with optimistic melodies racing at full steam ahead. The record comes to a close with ‘Midnight Library’ encompassing everything that makes this record great; the combination of mischievous, yet light-hearted grooves built perfectly around an interchanging melody.
