Memory Labs - Ambient track

This piece is dedicated to my grandfather who passed away in December 2022. 
The piece is a representation of my journey through the grieving process. At times the music reflects the turbulent thoughts and nightmares that initially come, but eventually those moments pass and the end result are sweeter moments of nostalgia.

Composing Loss was my therapy for a good portion of 2023 - it was also the last piece for my masters in composition. There were 50 versions of the piece in total, with an additional 25 drafts detailing the overall structure of the piece. 
At one point, the work was redone from the ground up due to the "nostalgia" melody not working. The final result was the result of hundreds of hours of rewrites, edits, feedback, more rewrites and soul-searching.

Loss - A Journey of Grief

The Ants was written to be played with Camille Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals. 
I wanted to convey a group of well organised, happy ants marching across a large, complex terrain.

The Turning tides is a programmatic piece of music, telling the story of a ship that gets completely separated from another group, and has to travel uncharted waters to get back home. 

The Turning Tides is made up of four movements:
I. Before the Storm
II. The Storm Begins
III. The Eternal Fog
IV. Searching for the Lost
V. The Thankful Reunion

My first attempt at writing a symphony. It has two very fun themes that work well together.
I just wanted to see if I could create one, before challenging myself to write something more contemporary.
