Brilliantly crafted House Music delivered with finesse. In places these two songs cover the deeper side of house music but can be definite and aggressive to keep your dance-floor busy. Let's face it, deep house isn't what it used to be and it is currently being dragged through the commercial market but with this superb release Ben has comfortably brought that sound we love and keep in such high regard back to its original space. 'Monochord' is punchy, edgy & flowing and is well coupled with 'Be About It', a more thoughtful and rootsy number that you won't struggle to fit into your sets either, this is just very good music! 

This is a great label debut from a very talented man. This is a must have in your collection.

Acclaimed music collective Jazzanova release their brand new single ‘Rain Makes The River’ from their up- coming album The Pool. Featuring the haunting vocals of Scottish singer Rachel Sermanni, the propulsive track o ers an intriguing snapshot of the band’s musical deve- lopments since the release of their last original album 10 years ago. 
This most emotive of singles – co-written with Sermanni and recorded, sampled, played, and programmed in Jazzanova’s Berlin studio – begins with moody drums and coarse hits that set a sombre mood. Heavy piano chords join the fray and add to a sense of forlornness. Then Sermanni’s crystal clear vocals cut through it all; soft and delicate they create an honest intimacy – singing about staying with your loved one through tough times. And suddenly the absorbing downbeat stops sounding so heavy and becomes the solid foundation for a united strength, accentuated with bright musical touches that leave a lasting impression. 
Over the past decade the German group, consisting of Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, have worked on a multitude of projects. They’ve toured live with the band, hosted radio shows, DJed, remixed tracks by Hugh Ma- sekela, Joe Bataan, Aron Ottignon, Malika Ayane (and many more), curated their labels Sonar Kollektiv and Notes On A Journey and recorded a live studio sessions album of some of their most beloved work. It’s been 23 years since they first got together, and this new album draws from all those years of experience while exploring new territories. The whole makes a brilliant teaser of what we can expect from the forthcoming album.

The latest single to come ahead of Jazzanova’s much anticipated full length The Pool is the brilliantly loose and upbeat jam, ‘No.9’ featuring KPTN. 
KPTN is the latest solo project by Dennis Neuer, singer of Berlin-based producer collective Champyons. Just like Jazzanova themselves, Champyons deal in r&b, pop and electronic music and mix up real song writing and musicianship with smart sampling. As such this is a perfect coming together of musical minds and it results in an essential new single. 
With live hip hop drums and a sunny lead synth line, the flute laced groove immediately gets you on your toes. Lively chords add colour and KPTN’s vocals are delivered with precision and a real air of cool. He muses on the divide between the haves and the have not as he crashes a party where he feels he doesn’t belong. Politically charged lines like „Three story house in Brixton cost a lot” are interspersed with run-ins with a woman, “Met her twice: bathroom and reception” to make for a voyeuristic track doused in neo-soul that once again blurs the boundaries between multiple genres, live music and studio wizardry all with a real lyrical conscious.

I Know You're There (3.1.3 Mix)

In my house CBS Saturday Morning is a ritual. Each week they feature an artist on their 'Saturday Sessions'. Michael was the guy a couple of weeks ago and this song spoke to me. While familiar with him as an artist, his music was new to me. After listening to his acoustic version of his song 'Light', I was inspired to bring it into my studio to add things that were not there. It wasn't until I finished this ruff mix that I decided to dig into his catalog of tunes, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear similar things in the original accompaniment that I created for my nod to his great work.
