This release has been in the works for a minute. Vladimir (who runs Offen) has been a longtime supporter of my music - regularly playing my tracks out across the globe. A couple of years back, I sent him some demos and a recent release: one of those tracks made it into his set at the Outburst stage at Houghton Festival, which was a huge moment for me! That sparked an ongoing exchange of music and ideas, and eventually led to this EP taking shape.

Stylistically, it’s the MOY blend of bluephoric acid, electro, and breakbeats - with some added 4/4 stomp for good measure. (I also took the photos for the sleeve myself on a slightly wonky Nikon, which felt fitting for this one.)

Really proud of how this EP turned out. Huge thanks to Vladimir for the support and belief in what I do.

Adepta Editions is pleased to announce the release of AEX-04 | Jon Murphy | Modular Overture, a 12" vinyl EP that explores the depths and textures of modular sound. For this fourth installment in the AEX series, artist Jon Murphy, formerly known as 'Gravy Murphy' or 'Yanni' of 'Cissi & Yanni', presents his work under his own name, marking a new chapter in his musical career.

Modular Overture is a meticulously crafted work built with a Eurorack system, where Murphy creates immersive atmospheres, delving into the experimental realm of raw, analogue synthesis, unafraid to explore abrasive sonic territories. The Westlicht Performer sequencer, along with modules from Noise Engineering and Acidlabs, are key elements in this EP's sonic palette, which is characterized by its dynamism and depth. The release includes four original compositions that invite introspection and movement, exploring diverse emotions and sonic landscapes. In addition, the EP features three remixes by prominent artists in the electronic scene: Serge Geyzel, Cignol, and ΠΕΡΑ ΣΤΑ ΟΡΗ, who bring their own perspectives and styles to Murphy's work, further enriching the sonic experience.

This EP is the last in a series of four releases from Adepta Editions that have featured the collaboration of talented visual artist Vesna Vrdoljak. Her graphic work for Modular Overture complements the sonic proposal with an evocative and contemporary aesthetic, creating a cohesive and captivating audiovisual experience.

Billy Nasty's Electrix welcomes AXIOMATIZE, a newly formed collaboration between Orson Bramley and James Preston. Up first is the blistering electro-techno of 'Leviatron' with its corrugated drum patterns, snappy hits and computer circuitry in meltdown, all making for a dystopian vibe.'I Am Evil' (extended mix) is dark and broody with a mischievous low end prowling beneath the drums and talkbox vocals. The German-Swiss friendship is further established with BiGOTT, the collaborative project between Berlin-based Sneaker and Zurich's Scannoir. After their previous releases as ½GOTT and GOTT on Uncanny Valley and some remixes, the duo returns with a third solo EP, marking their first appearance on the Berlin-Basel-based label Reach Another System. Their passion for EBM, Synth Pop, and New Beat comes to life with a fine array of classic drum machines and FM-synths, topped with Teutonic lyrics and archival samples. The A-side opens with a bang: "Magnet" critiques social expectations and pressures, backed by hard-hitting snares and tom fill-ins in Front 242 fashion. Next up, "Tschernobyl" warps the listener back to 1986 – a musical report of the Soviet nuclear disaster. Equally dystopian, the B-side hymn "Matrix Leben" depicts life inside a structured system that continually shapes and restricts us. The final track "7 Minuten" pushes the limits of restless staccato EBM madness. Mission accomplished!
