2013 marks a decade of Y-3 and its pioneering sport-style aesthetic—a look that continues to meld the avant-garde genius of Yohji Yamamoto with the breakthrough innovation of adidas. adidas is pleased to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Y-3 with a compilation album in collaboration with Alex Prat aka Alex from Tokyo (Tokyo Black Star, World Famous NYC) and 14 innovative electronic music producers, with CD and vinyl sets specially packaged with artwork by PL Studio.

Y-3 presaged the contemporary obsession with designer athletic wear by being the first to blur the boundaries of style and sport. The music on this compilation achieves a similar balance, bringing together dance music icons as well as fresh faces from the world of underground house and disco.

The esteemed contributors include Frank Wiedemann, one half of acclaimed duo Âme and co-founder of Berlin-based label Innervisions. Eccentric and reclusive maven Maurice Fulton makes a rare appearance, along with legendarily diverse New York DJ Joaquin "Joe" Claussell of the famed Body & Soul parties as well as Chicago house pioneer Larry Heard. Rub-N-Tug are a boisterous New York duo, and here they slot next to Jules Etienne's collaboration with disco purist Daniel Wang, founder of Balihu Records
Other artists on the compilation include Blackjoy, responsible for Parisian sci-fi disco, prolific Japanese producer Kaoru Inoue aka Chari Chari, Irish house heavyweight Mano Le tough, and Jiro Amimoto, who has produced the music at previous Y-3 runway shows. Discodromo, who heads up one of Berlin's top gay alternative parties Cocktail D'Amore, collaborates here with Italian Massimiliano Pagliara, a longtime resident at Frankfurt's Robert Johnson nightclub. Alex from Tokyo pulls double-duty, contributing a track from his and Isao Kumano's Tokyo Black Star project as well as mixing the CD version of the release. Rounding out the mix is anonymous Scottish producer Lord of the Isles and Quiet Village, featuring Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards.

The Y-3 compilation will be released in mid-September via the Y-3 website, retail stores, and social media outlets. The compilation will be available on CD with the tracks both mixed continuously or unmixed, along with 500 special-edition vinyl box sets and free digital downloads.

[Emotional] Especial returns in 2018 after a supremely quiet 2017 as batteries were recharged and life happened.   In mind is the introduction of new duo, Weird Weather and their debut EP, Bamboo Room.  Slotting perfectly in the label family with 4 cuts covering dark basement club music through to calmer, balmier moments. 

LJ Horstman and D Thornley, conjoined metal nerds from opposite ends of the London suburbs who bonded over love of dub mixes, create Weird Weather. This debut collects tracks from four years of jamming, constructing, dubbing and re-dubbing. Cheap synths played with strict finger musicianship; deep bass over 4/4, clattering Roland drum boxes and analogue pads and submerged vocals calling out over the noise of the digital Coffee Maker.
 
Full spectrum of influences are apparent for the heads with nods to Yello, Jah Shaka and the Horn “Megamixes” of Frankie Goes To Hollywood and ZTT alumini – all go in the dub blender with a slug of 80s rock bombast.  4 demos passed down and the mixing desk homeboy honing of Mr TJ Fairplay and Jamie Paton are drafted in for good measure.

To start, Sequence 5 is a one-take body-music desk dub.  The relentless riding rhythms and faint harmonics pull you to the floor in unknown fashion.  Trash Dolphin follows as an aquatic New-Wave meets NY-house in-joke that went too far.  Sample bits out the window to reach nirvana.  

Taking the flip is Bamboo Room.  A sub 90 bpm, euphoric mind-melter for the post Ambient House generation.   The true winner with tranquil(ity) bass and psychedelic (research) lab trip shifts.  Seamlessly completed with the poolside ‘Ormus Mix’ for the suave recliners.  Thanks to Eric Dan for phantom support via the LCD screen. Onwards and upwards.

B1. Weird Weather - Bamboo Room

The forest was crowded during the winter. The plants fought for the shadowy warmth of the deep marsh and it was a world in which the fern reigned supreme. The deep green treetops provided shelter and cover for the wet, damp forest floor which was alive and bubbling amidst the cold dew of the morning. In the distance the sound of a crow could be heard, coarse and loud upon the smooth ease of the morning air and the daylight glow. It was not somewhere you'd like to find yourself lost amidst the bitter cold...

Dawn Again & Rothman's are set to release a new EP on Roam Recordings, a flavoursome affair with fine style and finesse. Oh, and it comes with a gracious remix for the red room by Eddie C.

One of the top drummers in the Israeli scene, Tel-Aviv based songwriter and producer BĘÃTFÓØT launches his solo project with the powerful new EP De Vibez, a fanciful gutter-glam cross between stoner-acid-pop and 90’s-garage-punk.

Side A contains some stunning originals alongside a surprising cover of a melancholic oldie by the legendary german singer Nico.
Side B be the remixes: the first, a colorful club-driven remix by Garzen Records head honchos & electronic duo Red Axes, followed by a groovy down tempo drone version by the mesmerizing Smagghe & Cross.

Fluidly hurtling in hot after NAA012, the newborn and MODXI, brings a refreshing ambience to Not An Animal Records with a deluxe, tasteful and elegant new release. MODXI is Sam Watts, who, with the help of his improvisational jazz saxophonist father, Trevor Watts and talented electronic producer Thomas Gandey, bring the new beat, Amalgam. The end result? A wondrous 11-minute shuffle that offloads some pure emotive action. Choosing to cruise hood down, Dark-Wave-esk drums skid towards a persistent synth wobble and transmogrify into a sentimental masterpiece. Striking piano chords stretch to the foreground and Trevor’s breathtaking sax complete the succulent harmonies, adding some serious psychotropic seasoning. On the B, experienced moonwalker Roman Flügel rattles the original into a nostalgic Techno bruiser - Toxic, pernicious, and seriously alluring. It winds up and down, weaves in and out, and in signature Flügel fashion adds more psychedelic edge. Whistling synth shots and a growling chunky bass are added to the captivating atmosphere, just before fully kicking off with destructive arpeggiation in the second half. Ouch! To close, the ever so mysterious Frank Butters returns for some explosive remix material, this time coming through with a deadly Electro heater. Watt’s saxophone scorches through the high end alongside a howling bass-line undertone, taking this track someplace else. Stylish Vocoder & synthesiser licks add the finishing touches to this stomper.

B1 - Amalgam - Roman Flügel Remix / Not An Animal

The small boat bobbed on the water, looking for a place to dock before dawn broke. The two brothers scanned the shore before honing in on a derelict cove shrouded in darkness. They couldn't be caught, they had travelled for too long to risk their cover being blown. As they moored up and stepped on to solid ground, they gazed up at the famous skyline before them; a sight they had only ever seen before in books and paintings. This would be their new home; a place where they could make their names known. The unsuspecting city had no idea what they were in for...

Lithuanian-based producer Pletnev returns to local label Le Temps Perdu for his second EP, following his 2017 debut with 'St. Bones'. His diverse productions have taken him to labels like SZE, Fleeting Wax, Meda Fury and Hard Fist, with sounds spanning percussive tools to EBM and leftfield cuts. His forthcoming EP, 'Voranto Bros', features blinding remixes from CockTail d'Amore bosses Discodromo and Biologic Records' Lion's Drums.

As the King Cobra uncoils from a woven basket and flares out its iconic hood, it appears to sway back and forth hypnotically as the snake charmer plays his flute. Timpani solos, a variety of percussion, syncopated rhythms and colorful harmonies are woven together to create an exotic tapestry of sound that will captivate young musicians and their audiences. Puma & The Dolphin releases their first EP and it is massive. Our pick up is a B1 track -  "Cobra Dance".
Taking a similar yet slightly different aproach to the post-punk sound of previous tracks, this tune features a catchy bassline and groovy percussion, alternating between vocal samples, melodic elements, and rhythmic phrases. OB004 - Heisenbug and Time Signals collaborates for MARATHON. It is a musical time travel back to the 1990's -2000's to the small town up North in Lithuania - Joniškis. To the time when Berlin's 'Love Parade' grew in all our hearts and when the first dance music bars and clubs have been born in Lithuania. In Joniškis at that time, dance marathons took place, where people once danced non-stop for 20-30 hours. Without any booze or drugs, driven only by love for music and dance... So the fourth release is also full of love, and also full of honest 90's vibe.
