Back in September 2020, I wrote and released my first Ambient-Space music track.  I've always been a huge sci-fi fan and the soundtrack music that's been composed for them.  Both are a constant inspiration for journeys of the mind across both space and time.  When I created my original track, I was a complete novice at music mixing and mastering.  Over the past year, I've learned quite a lot, and having listened to my original release track several times since then, it became clear pretty quickly that it needed some remixing and remastering work to improve its overall appeal and sound quality.  Today I took some time to do just that while also rendering it in 96kHz and 24-bit depth high definition.  Both the original and the new remastered version are posted here.  Please take a few minutes to listen. Powder Run

I wrote this song for my late wife, Polly. I began writing it before her passing. She only heard an early sketch of it. I visualized this story as I worked through the grief and pain of losing her. To preserve my memories, I revisited many of the places we enjoyed together ... the frequent places, and the unique special events.  It wasn't easy, but it was cathartic! We loved going out to dance. Sadly, I found that our favorite dance halls have closed and been torn down. So, I conjured this situation and began rewriting the "mind journey". I return to a dance hall where we shared very special times during the early years of our marriage.  I enter the building from a ground floor entryway and begin to walk across the dance floor.  As I approach the opposite side, I see a gorgeous and immaculately dressed woman on the mezzanine level about to descend a magnificent staircase to the dance floor.  As we approach each other, I realize this woman is my departed wife in ghostly form. Stunned, I freeze.  As she descends the staircase, she stares at me for a few moments, and then realizes I am her husband. We rush toward each other, ecstatic to see each other again.  As we attempt to embrace, we both realize she is a spirit without a body.  We struggle to find a way to physically touch, but can’t.  We get as close to each other as possible to reminisce and celebrate this unusual reunion. We begin to dance together again as we did in life.  As the music nears its end, she begins to dematerialize into a vapor. I'm losing her again, but also overjoyed with having spent a remarkable and loving moment once again with her.  This track is dedicated to my late wife, Polly who passed in May, 2022.  Love you always!!!

My latest track. A dark number keeping to the brief of the compilation of "dark energy". I structured the track around the moody chord progression of the bass line. I wanted to keep the other layers discreet and subtle. There are 3 sections to the track, building to the intense drone like ending which uses an insidiously increasing delay to create a large Soundstage. Last Friday, the 19th Anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the memories of that hellish day prompted me to lay down a track as a remembrance of the event and the tragic impact to so many lives.  We must NEVER forget ... or become complacent with those who would destroy us or attempt to crush us under the heal of their boots!!!

Hollan Holmes is a landscape artist by day, but his love for electronic music finds him creating Ambient Electronic Space music by night, often into the wee hours. He released his first CD, A Distant Light, in December 2010 to critical acclaim and, in 2011, released his second CD, The Farthest Fringes with even greater success. His third CD, Phase Shift, was nominated as One World Music's 2013 Electronic Album Of The Year. His fourth CD, The Spirits Of Starlight, released July 1, 2013. His 5th CD, Incandescent, was also nominated for Album Of The Year at One World Music Radio, in 2015. Two years would pass before his next release, a double CD, Prayer To The Energy, with many critics calling it his best work yet. His debut release with ambient music label, Spotted Peccary, called Milestones, was released February 2020 and generated major positive attention. New music is scheduled for release on January 14th, 2022.
