G'day Vibe Guide! We're finally at the finish line of this marathon of a year, and to celebrate the festive season and a year of putting out local content, this month for our Selects Series the crew at the Vibe Guide has been joined by one of Adelaide's veteran Drum & Bass soldiers and Inbound Records boss, Fiction.

Fiction has been DJing rave music since 1994, after getting into vinyl at a young age, starting out scratching artists like Run DMC and Beat Street, and running his own radio station at the age of 12. Drum & Bass in Adelaide took off in 96 with Fiction playing dnb up to four nights a week.

On May 30 1998, Fiction and DJ Filter (Curt) put on the first Inbound Records night at the Crown & Scepter, and ever since the name has become synonymous with Drum & Bass in Adelaide, becoming a bricks and mortar retail record store, an online store, and Skateboard label. Most recently some of the most memorable Inbound gigs for Fiction have been Inbound's 21st birthday at the Masonic Centre, and bringing over the late great Marcus Intalex along with the legendary Break.

Simon has supported too many great artists to do a comprehensive list, but some of his favourites have been: Grooverider, Andy C, Ratty, Slipmatt, Klute, Bailey, Fierce, LTJ Bukem, D-Bridge, Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Marky, Concord Dawn, Noisia. 

I hope that suffices as a brief history of the DJ Fiction and Inbound. I hope you enjoy the mix crew. Merry Christmas and much love to you all

Now the TGR has landed in Los Angeles, ready to energize the dancefloor. TGR and Illexxandra create playfully genderfluid music as Ajazent, with releases on Black Marble Collective’s RAVETOOLZ and District 160’s BREATHE. TGR and Billy Deez join forces as TankTop NYC; catch ‘em live on DNBRadio every Monday 4-5PM ET/1-2PM PT. TGR’s mission is to advance equity toward BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ presence and leadership in heteronormative electronic genres, including drum and bass. Keep an eye out for TGR’s triphop-loving alter ego Phatti Smith.

Let's meet our dj for episode 414, Distinct:
At the age of only 17, Distinct, a newcomer to the electronic music scene, was quickly infatuated with the sounds of DNB. It wasn’t long before she was out purchasing her first pieces of vinyl.  

After placing 4th in "Calgary's Next Top DJ" and an interview and article in djmag.ca, she caught the attention of the scouts from the DNB Girls. They asked her to join the team of women making noise across the country. There is no stopping this ball of D&B fire, as this is only the beginning of a very promising career.
