A disciple of Ōtautahi’s pre earthquake drum&bass/jungle scene. 
Deutan’s then moniker ‘Jumbo’ started buying records at 15. 
Eventually playing various outdoor, club and soundsystem nights. 
Later including Subtle’s legendary formative dubstep parties.

Moving forward, after living in Berlin and two stints in Melbourne see’s him leaning more into leftism-techno, electro, house and bass offshoots. 
Drawing from experiences, inspiration and a constant search for deeper cuts allows his sets to weave through emotion whilst pushing narrative.

This mix displays Deutan's selection wisdom with deejay precision and will interest the ears of the seasoned raver.

“This mix is an insight to my musical influences and inspirations. I’ve been loving KAYTRANADA’s productions, and it’s great to see new artists like BADBADNOTGOOD pushing the envelope of Jazz and be so well received. Cymande are true inspirations to me, they’re 6 incredible musicians that blend together complex rhythms, sophisticated harmonies and improvisations to make up a perfect groove, and ‘Dove’ is a sublime example of this. I’ve included some tracks from undercover musical dons like Nick Hakim and Henry Wu, and some absolute legends like Flying Lotus, J Dilla, Jamie XX and of course the genius composer Nils Frahm – I recently attended his performance at the Proms, it was incredible.
