AWEH is delighted to share an exciting new musical project and present the highly anticipated collaboration EP titled "Shukuma." This ambitious project unites the visionary label head, Esa, with the legendary South African Kwaito artist, Kamazu, hailing from the vibrant township of Soweto, Johannesburg. Crafted meticulously over two years, from 2020 to 2022, "Shukuma" is a testament to the limitless power of musical synergy and the awe-inspiring richness of South African culture.

The title track, Shukuma, is a prime example of the collaborative brilliance between Esa and Kamazu, blending future kwaito-inspired elements with acid house. It represents a sonic manifestation of their shared creative vision. The EP pays homage to Kwaito and its profound connection to Chicago House, which left a lasting impression on the South African music genre during the 90s. Additionally, the EP boasts another future Kwaito classic, Muntu. This infectious dancefloor banger showcases the continued creative partnership of Esa and Kamazu but also features the innovative contributions of Dirty Bungalow, infusing the EP with a fresh and vibrant energy into the mix. Muntu has already gained recognition and acclaim, having been featured in the esteemed podcast series, The Invisible Hand.

To enhance the complete auditory and visual experience surrounding Shukuma, Esa has collaborated with the exceptionally talented artists and friends Floating B_strd and Sanoy. Together, they have crafted an exquisite piece of art that encapsulates the very essence of the EP. The final artwork will be unveiled on the official release day, building anticipation and intrigue. This unique fusion of music and visual art adds depth and excitement to the project.

"Shukuma" transcends being a mere EP; it invites listeners on an journey that celebrates the profound talents of Esa, Kamazu, and the creative minds that contributed to its realisation. Celestino (SXDNS009/FREEDL005/FREEDL054) is finally back on Espacio Cielo. After his well-received single “Sehnsucht”, released in 2020, his forthcoming EP on the Spanish powerhouse brings two massive originals, inspired by lucid dreams on Robert Johnson’s and Panorama Bar’s dance floors, and three essential remixes made with love by none other than Bonnie Spacey (SXDNS337/BLOG010), Endrik Schroeder (SXDNS336), and Parissior (SXDNS206/FREEDL043/TAKEOVER002/BANDCAMP002/RASTROLIVE009), the label boss himself. Premiered here, Master Schroeder’s version of the title track goes to infinity & beyond with its Hi-NRG-on-acid-meets-Trance aura. Adding clout to the mellow but upbeat original, the acclaimed French artist, with previous works published on Ritmo Fatale, Bordello A Parigi, Luv Shack, Ombra International, Critical Monday, and Roam, just to name a few, debuts on Espacio with an AAA+ interpretation.

After over a decade of silence, Fuse Club finally awakens its in-house imprint to redefine the design of contemporary club music. With reinvigorated intentions, the word echoes through its future releases - timeless. These records, finding a home in the Brussels’ 30 year old institution, are crafted to endure a perpetually shapeshifting scene, balancing drive, tension, and introspection. 

First in line to contribute to this project is none other than Fuse’s very own resident Altinbas. Following a string of releases on his own Observer Station, Token, SK_Eleven, and many others, Altinbas tastefully blends atmospheric ambiances and elusive synth work and arrangements - all recontextualized in impressively decisive percussion lines. Creating dimension in each track, the Brussels native whips texture far and wide with persistent tension and a well-rounded low end. 

‘Hunt’ kicks off the EP at full pace with a thickened bassline, rapidly spreading out with the introduction of supporting synths shortly thereafter. Racing through a head spinning arrangement, Altinbas swiftly interchanges hi hats to tame the loose ambiance. A heavier track for the A1, we take a deeper dive into the followup ‘Good Intentions’. Almost without warning, the record takes a dark turn with the apparition of a chilling key to mark the measures. Rolling through with a booming bass drum and all other elements responding in suit, we draw closer to the end to discover an important contrast in the B side. The title track ‘Reshape’ takes a step back in attitude and proposes a carefully crafted classic approach, complete with bouncing dub stabs and shuffled out drum machine sequences. Rising in tension through opening filters and sprinkling in rides, Altinbas performs satisfyingly smooth transitions while remaining playfully in control. This guides us to the finale of the EP, entitled ‘Sphaere’. Switching things up close on a surprise, we’re gifted a harmonic groover - reminiscent of post-90s techno delivered with surgical attention to detail. Tone is central here, boasting a powerful midrange and enough space to let it evolve throughout - a clever conclusion for the first installment of Fuse Imprint.
