Following on from the release of their highly-praised outing ”Stigma” earlier this year, which saw them collaborate with seminal artist Johan Hinders of Audionom, Swedish duo LOW-RES continue the support for their forthcoming album ”Därför” with the captivating new single ‘Makeup’.

Capturing more of that warm and euphoric approach to the post-punk sound they have cultivated for themselves over the years, ”Makeup” makes for a wonderfully rich and enigmatic listen. Inspired by the anthemic line of Hole’s ”Celebrity Skin” ”when i wake in, in my make up”, as well as House of Love and The Warlocks, they are returning with one of their most impactful offerings to date here.

Speaking about the new cut, they said, ”Makeup is about leaving a negative spirit. Someone who is holding you back… It’s about addiction, to live with someone who abuses, and daring to leave such a relationship.”

“It was written on a beautiful old USSR guitar we found online, and was delivered in a tiny box. Of course it sounded terrible with the exception of three chords, which are those you hear on the actual recording, captured on an iPhone. That was the only time we used it, and now it’s back on sale.”

Stockholm-based duo LOW-RES write pulsating pop tunes influenced by 90s ambient guitars and analog synthesisers. They made their debut in 2021 with the full-length album ”Varför” featuring guest appearances by Jukka Rintamäki (Silverbullit) and Per Nordmark (Fireside) among others. A four-track EP ”Du å ja” followed in 2022 with a refined sound of analog drum machines and Swedish lyrics.

The eleven songs on sister album ”Därför” drag you in, one by one, to a parallel universe where music from bygone eras like krautrock, early electronic pop/rock and psychedelia are alive and well, sounding as fresh as ever in modern-day Sweden.

“Varför and Därför belong together,” says LOW-RES. “Both records were written in the same vein and with the same approach: fast, creative and with many collaborations that colour the expression. We have a lot of fun making music and it works as an antidepressant. We heard the term Art Therapy and that pretty much sums up why we do this.”

Physically the two albums will be bound together on a vinyl release combining the two albums to a double album. This beautiful entity is also released on the 5th May and can be pre-ordered HERE now.

Om man tar en av Sveriges mest respekterade jazzgitarrister, en billboard-låtskrivare, en kaféägande rocksångare och en ska-trummis, får man tydligen, lite otippat, det kanske hårdaste som träffat dina trumhinnor detta år. Låt oss ge er neo-thrash-, punk-, hardcore-, sludge-, speed-bandet Bitch Hawk. En enhet till synes besatt av att förena Beastie Boys sväng med Bathory. 

Dagens rockmusik är unken, ofta självuppblåst, barikad-patetisk och genomsyrad av en macho-jargong lika förlegad som ett tritonus-intervall. Med det sagt, Bitch Hawk spelar rock, de är vita män och de har döpt sitt band till Bitch Hawk. Vad du än känner så kan vi lova att du kommer inte att lämnas oberörd.

Vi släpper nu lös första singeln från ett kommande debutalbum. Singeln ”Winning” är den snällaste låten på plattan. Likväl som med de väna pressbilderna tar vi gemene man och leder hen med ett mjugg-leende rakt ner i fördärvet. 

"The song is based on the downfall of Charlie Sheen", säger bandet. Fan vet vad de menar med det. 

Våga nu inte börja härja om supergrupp, men bakom namnet Bitch Hawk döljer sig inga nykläckta ungtuppar. Basisten Patrik Berger är kanske mest känd för att skriva låtar till Lana Del Rey och Charli XCX. Han skrev även ”I Love It” till Icona Pop och "Dancing on My Own” tillsammans med Robyn. Han har också ett förflutet i kaosrockarna Snuffed by the Yakuza. Andreas Hourdakis är en av Sveriges bästa jazzgitarrister och turnerar Europa runt som medlem i Magnus Öströms band. Han släppte just ett välmottaget soloalbum som Andreas Hourdakis Trio. På sång återfinns Fred Burman, som annars sjunger i Satan Takes A Holiday. Henrik bakom trummorna har harvat i ska-träsket och obskyra rockband tills han nu hittat hem.

The awarded and established exciting Hey Elbow are finally back with new material. After extensive touring in all the world following the release of their debut album, they are ready to release new material and hit the road again. The band will premiere their new tracks on a special curated show at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in November. This is the first single from an upcoming second album. 

Hey Elbow consists of Julia Ringdahl (vocals/guitar), Ellen Petersson (horns/electronics), and Liam Amner (drums). With a background in jazz and an ear for distortion they create eccentric pop music with a big sound. 

Hey Elbow took its name from an aerobics warm-up exercise they were taught while standing in the audience waiting for a show by The Knife. With their foundations in jazz and musical education, combined with an interest in noise, improvisation and freedom, they make oddly haunting pop music with a unique and personal expression.

Need For Speed is a duo from Malmö, Sweden with the roots in RA which released their EP "Then I Woke Up In Paradise" on Progress Productions last year. Once again the release is a co-operation between Progress Productions and our fantastic friends at Adrian Recordings. Need For Speed is currently working on their debutalbum to be released during fall 2018.
