I had to eat all these words that came out of my mouth
Did not know what I was talking about
I had to eat these thoughts that I've strewn all around

At times I find a relic to remind me of how I fell behind
Distracts me from the fact that the sun still shines

I had to think all about what it was I did wrong

Sometimes a memory will remind me of what I left behind

Challenges are faced to make a safe space
For everyone to feel welcome to hang out

Presently I seem to merely be flying along
Steadily until the year when I die and move on
Well I might come back to this song
Searching for answers to try to prolong

To stay in life is likely what I would be bargaining for
I’d pay a price to avoid crying so hard at that door
Please won't you dry up a poor baby's tears
Please help me take back all these wasted years

That I took for granted hiding by myself all alone
I would have done things so much differently had I known
If I could just go back in time
And tell my younger self all the wisdom I've gained
Over the years that I have grown

What was eschewed facing the span and just lying around
Its magnitude makes this grown man want to cry and break down

Though it may make this burn feel that much worse
