I haven't recorded the vocals for this yet, but since it was an instrumental for nearly 40 years I figure I can upload it in its current form. That's me on everything--electric guitar, keyboards (piano, harpsichord, glockenspiel), fretless bass, fender bass, drums, muted trumpet, clarinet, french horn (which, by the magic of modern technology, doubles as a tuba), flute, tambourine, and sleigh bells. 


Beach Boys - Look (Song for Children) Instrumental

It's taken me about 3 (on-and-off) years, but I've just finished recording and mixing my own recreation of the first suite of SMiLE.  It's about 18 minutes long and loosely follows the formats we know and love.. part TSS, part BWPS, and part my own mix (with a tiny sprinkle of Smiley Smile and 20/20, and lots of "Heroes and Villains (Sections) bits, mixed in).  I think you'll get a kick out of some transitions, including a brief acapella H&V part hinted at in TSS but (as far as I know) never recorded by the Boys. I sang and played all the parts myself--on top of the drums, guitars, keyboards, harmonica, banjo, fender bass guitar, etc. that I already had, I bought a fretless bass guitar, melodica, siren whistle, ukulele, lots of weird percussion instruments, a frech horn, flute, violin, and trumpet to fill it out (the last four of which I had never played before starting this project).  I'm sure it'll prompt some "Why bother covering it if you're not going to add your own spin?" comments, but I really just did it for my own enjoyment, not to break any new ground.  I hope you get enjoy it too! (Don't expect Suites Two or Three anytime soon--now that I've finished Suite One, I'm taking a break!)

I couldn't be more excited about this new cover. I've admired the talented musicians on the Beach Boys forum http://www.SmileySmile.net for years, and asked six of them to help me out with this one. So, here you have it: the classic Beach Boys tune Add Some Music To Your Day, sung and performed by seven guys from three continents who've never even met each other. The leads are shared (in order of appearance) by seltaeb1012002, Austin, rab2591, me, and dmcguire70, and we each sing background vocals with extra help from Mike LeRoy (FatherOfTheMan) and JMZ. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it!
