followed by confusion
close to my tracks and i felt myself
losing myself
tried to cheat it instead of keeping it
close to my soul now i know better

loose connections, bad intentions
who are you to talk to me about the way i see myself
call me selfish, i can take it
gotten used to it
but you'll never know the time and the patience it took me to be
self aware
keep yourself inside your lane, do you think that i'm a lame
for all the effort and the patience that it took me to be

kept my fragile mindset gated
been manipulated, blinded and tried
to protect the only thing that caused me pain
had to turn against my blood
for the better of my heart
but it grew it's roots so deep that i'll need
time to weed it out
so that i can breathe
learned a lot about myself
how i hate, how i can tell if someone is willing to 
treat me with the respect that i deserve
i will never be walked over ever again
since i have become
self aware
now i truly know my place
i am proud and i'm amazed 
of all the pain and all the effort that it took me to be
self aware
still loose
gotta tighten my safety belt
but my soul 
is content with all the pain it held
not alone
