Hello everyone, this is a track i did for the Soma synth contest

All sounds were made using some of the provided samples.
I processed them in Max msp based on a Stochastic Process, inspired by Iannis Xenakis concept:

“Linear polyphony destroys itself by its very complexity; what one hears is in reality nothing but a mass of notes in various registers. The enormous complexity prevents the audience from following the intertwining of the lines and has as its macroscopic effect an irrational and fortuitous dispersion of sound over the whole extent of the sonic spectrum. There is consequently a contradiction between the polyphonic linear system and the heard result, which is surface or mass”

This process is basically approaching the pentagram by applying mathematical rules and the calculation of probabilities.

After that i re-processed the samples in Ableton with Simpler, Iris 2 and Output Arcade

Final touch with Nuendo for a bit of mixing and mastering

Title Seven-Year Phase is taken from a painting, i think Visual Art always inspired me to love music 

I´ve always loved soma synths and i think they are perfect instruments for ambient/drone style music
