We are pleased to welcome Anri to our mix series and as part of our SC family with episode 57. 
The Japanese DJ and producer has been fascinated by electronic music since 1999 after her first contact in Tokyo. Before moving to Berlin in 2014, she was an active member of Melbourne's thriving techno scene for several years, which inspired and influenced her.

She has also continued to indulge her passion in Berlin and, among other things, created the event and mix series [ˈYO͞ONƏˌSEKS].
With years of experience behind the decks on many stages from clubs to festivals, Anri has developed a unique techno sound that moves from experimental and challenging techno to melodic and deep, taking the dancing crowd on a journey into inner spaces held by her gentle feminine power.

All this, coupled with her friendly nature, was reason enough for us to invite her to be part of our community - hear for yourself and enjoy.

We start the year with a varied and interesting mix from the talented Dj and Producer WAVE.

Originally from Mallorca - now based in Manchester - WAVE has rapidly intrigued Manchester's underground scene with his energetic and original sets full of choppy vocals and a rolling groove. His music is inspired by Dj´s like Sven Väth, Troy Pierce, Magda and other names that has kick started his adventure.
At the beginning of 2020 he created together with an old friend UNDERGROUNDISLAND - making events around Palma de Mallorca, trying to give different feelings to the island.
His passion to underground sounds grew over the years ... that led him to start producing and mixing.

What happens when you take grimy electro, squelching acid and haunting vocals, and drag them through a hedge backwards? Well you either end up with a few severely scratched records, or the latest cut from Kamikaze Space Programme.

'Choke' sees the seasoned Bristol producer take a weird and wonderful ride through the melancholic underworld of bass music. Punchy percussion and swathes of prickly noise are countered by the fluttering voice of DT favourite, Emika, and washed out pads from the vast, empty depths of the galaxy.

The track features on KSP's new Stokes Croft EP, his debut effort for Austrian label, Trust and we enjoyed the release so much that we quickly set about securing the inimitable jungalist come techno don’s talents for our podcast series.  Mixed ahead of a busy summer that sees him touch down at Berlin’s Krake Festival, deliver remixes Emika, He/aT and Adrian Adonis and drop EPs on the Mindcut and (hopefully) Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver imprint we fully expect 2015 to be the year that KSP leaps into the limelight. Exploring a wide range of four-to-the-floor beats in his podcast, the mix journesy through a variety of driving techno numbers before venturing into slightly more abstract soundscapes. Masterfully maintaining intensity throughout, KSP has us locked in from start to finish. We can't imagine a better way to start the week although we’ll admit his selections have already got us eagerly eyeing up the coming weekend!

Reclaim Your City 250 | Ryan James Ford (Berlin)

During the 1990’s while growing up in Calgary Canada, Ryan James Ford was introduced to electronic music through the local rave and club culture. He began to discover, study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno, House, IDM, and ambient. 

Fast forward almost two decades later to Berlin, where Ryan and his productions found a home in Marcel Dettmann Records. 2015 saw him make his solo debut on the techno stalwart’s label with an atmospheric and ambient leaning techno EP. The five-tracker easily conveys the rich influence IDM has had on personality and his production style. 

Although now, predominantly a techno DJ and producer, Ryan’s sets and productions are rich with inspiration from his time spent living in Calgary where he had interests not only in electronic music but also in hip hop, reggae, punk, experimental, and even metal. He began experimenting with production in the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until 2011, with a move to Berlin, that he started investigating his musical capabilities seriously.

Even though two decades have passed since Ryan’s introduction to electronic music, his love for early Warp, Skam, Talkin’ Loud, Metalheads, Novamute, Downwards, etc. can still be heard resoundingly clear in the strength and versatility of his sets and productions. The future will see Ford continue to play out and release on labels that share his like-minded affiliation and roots in the techno community.

SPECTRIBE (Karol Rakowski)
For more than a decade VJ and multimedia director. He performed at all music festivals in Poland, cooperating with such bands as Skalpel, Miloop, Oszibarack, Igor Boxx. As a multimedia director, he co-created performances by Krystian Lupa, Jan Klata, Agata Duda-Gracz... At the Wrocław Multimedia Fountain, where he held the position of Artistic Director, he collaborated with Brian Eno. Co-creator of special effects for the film "Rabbit in Berlin", dir. Bartek Konopka, which was nominated for an Oscar.
Fascinated with electronic music for years. Founder of the SLAP group, passionate about strong and good sound and energetic dancer. His sets are stylishly heterogeneous and strongly reflect what sits in his head.
