The Drill stands in direct contrast: raw, uncompromising, and built for forward momentum. The track relies on a powerful, driving rhythmic foundation that takes command right from the start. This is less about subtle buildup and more about direct energy, impact, and physical presence.
The percussion cuts sharper, the textures are rougher – almost industrial – as if the track were drilling through space with unstoppable force.
“the drill” is the extroverted counterpart of the release: an invitation to let go, to move, to surrender to the sheer intensity of rhythm.

Chymera needs little to no introduction, producing and releasing music since 2002 on a multitude of respected imprints like Cocoon, Delsin and Kompakt, he is not only an artist we all admire but also a very dear friend. In fact it was Chymera that introduced Mano and The Drifter to Baikal back in 2010, an introduction without which Maeve may not have happened at all. So it gives us great pleasure to welcome Chymera to Maeve and finally release some of his excellent work.

Noise Tool is a pair of techno cuts, each almost breaching 10 minutes and custom fit to the dancefloor dedicated sound Maeve has become known for. The title track, “Noise Tool”, leads you into a murky world of pulsating sounds and ominous synth lines, building anticipation at clever and intriguing pace. Sparse percussion slowly reveals the hypnotic groove to the listener culminating in a burst of energy that elevates the sound to peak-time-banger status.

On the flip, “1990”, takes a different turn to that of the A side, immediately setting a no nonsense tone with a feeling that something big is going to happen. Chymera has always been known for his distinct focus on melody and 1990 really shows this as several harmonious melodies intertwine to put the listener on the front foot. While beautiful pads give the dancefloor a moment of relief it isn’t long before a deep rolling bassline returns to bring the track to new heights.

Jennifer Cardini's label Correspondant kicks off 2019 with their various artists EP 'Numéro 01' which holds five exclusive tracks from artists like Damon Jee, EDE, Jenia Tarsol & Jinga, Joris Briesmans and Speaking Minds & Amarcord. The latter's contribution, 'Jupiter Express', is most likely one of the highly anticipated tracks of the EP and, for good reason, has been played out by several scene mainstays. 'Jupiter Express' implements a New Wave-vibe right with its first beat and chord and has the finger on the pulse of current electronic music developments. As the track progresses Speaking Minds & Amarcord add various synth-chord-variations in different octaves while a stomping bass line takes you on a ride into different spaces before further spacey soundscapes are skillfully added and a warm bleeping and echoing arpeggio rings in the finale of the 'Jupiter Express' and its arrival in a new musical and out of space world.

Speaking Minds & Amarcord make a welcome return to AEON with the Cosmic Friday EP, a moving five track release that features stunning remixes from scene heavyweights Fort Romeau and Moscoman.
“‘Cosmic Friday’ comes from the attempt to merge Krautrock influences with a blade runner-esque vibe while keeping the structure of a modern dance music record. ‘Drums & Oscillators’ instead is simply what the title recalls: a live session made with a Korg MS-20 recorded on a single take which remained unchanged. With the night drive mix the record has been turned into a slowly burning acidic tune for the darkest night drives.” Speaking Minds & Amarcord.
Cosmic Friday begins the EP powerfully, as a synth filled bassline rolls up and down before ethereal pads lead into rustling hi- hats. Fort Romeau’s Humanoid mix of the title track comes next, featuring distorted keys that pave the way for a moving piano chime, before Drums & Oscillators ratchets up the pace with subtle pulses and vibrating basslines. Moscoman’s Remix of Drums & Oscillators is another powerful dance number, as a chunky, wobbling rhythm is complemented by emotive violin calls, whilst the Night Drive Mix rounds off the EP with breakbeat-esque percussion and a penetrating acid solo.
Speaking Minds is a founding member of AEON alongside Alex Niggeman and Denis Horvat. Fellow Italian Amarcord is no stranger to the scene, having teamed up with Speaking Minds on the Mermaid’s Chant EP released on Canadian imprint My Favourite Robot Records. Esteemed record enthusiast Fort Romeau has produced standout releases for the likes of Running Back and Spectral Sound. Moscoman is the proprietor of respected imprint Disco Halal, and is a prolific producer and remixer, releasing on labels such as ESP Institute and Life and Death whilst similarly remixing the likes of Man Power and Bawrut.

AEON label founder Alex Niggemann closes the year in style with the remarkable ​Electric Mariachi​. Unique remixes are delivered from cosmic disco inspired Rigopolar and Spanish talent Pional.
Electric Mariachi opens with vocoded robotic words, a heavy snare combines with electro zap before Alex introduces horn, adding a human element into an intergalactic journey bursting with energy and emotion. ​Pional is first up on remix duty with an acid interpretation, a loopy, hypnotic bassline wraps around the original melody and showcases his deeply compulsive electronics that can be found on the likes of Young Turks, Phonica Records and Permanent Vacation. Mexican-born, L.A. based, ​Rigopolar ​then turns his hand to two remixes. The stripped down remix is a colourful synth-wave piece where arpeggiating tones move like liquid over reverbed percussion. His second sees him up the ante, in a space influenced extended version that ebbs and flows throughout with his psychedelic glowing keys.
The word visionary is often overused in electronic music, but it’s the perfect description for Alex Niggemann. His ethos is to embrace the new and push the boundaries of the genre he loves so much. Since breaking through in 2006 with his remix of Booka Shade’s ​Darko,​ ​Alex Niggemann ​has continuously impressed with a slew of hits on seminal labels including Crosstown Rebels and Mule Musiq, as well as his own AEON imprint.

Londoner Mark Bailey alias Man2.0 makes his debut on Hungarian label Secret Fusion with his  five tracker 'Hooked On U', which comes with two original takes and altogther three remixes for the EP's title track and 'The Night We Went To The Sea Together'. The label owners themselves, Secret Factory take on remix duties for 'Hooked On U' and deliver a scinitillating chords layered piece of work whose darkly twisted sounds in combination with the vocoder-sung and icey-touched arpeggio are made to heat up the dance floor due its hollow hitting bass line that pushes the listener through the 'iced' arrangement of this forwardly-going and thought piece of music.

Man2.0's EP 'Hooked On U' will be released on Secret Fusion on January 27th, 2020.

Since Biesmans made his debut on AEON last year with his “A Long Road” EP, he has continued to build a profile and musical output that is both exciting and ground breaking. So it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the label for his follow up EP “Top Gun”

Biesmans has decided to showcase two subtly different versions of the title track “Top Gun”. Version 1 is a stunningly produced lo-fi disco workout with nod to 80’s synth classics. A dynamic bass line underpins a delightfully simple but effective groove and delicious melodies. Version 2 is similar in it’s approach but is perhaps a little more strident. Biesmans said “I often make several versions of a track when I’m writing and then focus in on a particular version. In this case I couldn’t decide so I figured let’s release both!'
“Dr Electric” is a more melancholy in it’s approach, with a broken beat, subtle synths and vocodered vocals taking centre stage, with almost blissful prog rock leanings in places.

Remix duties are taken up by Permanent Vacation head honcho and AEON favorite Benjamin Fröhlich and Italian duo Phunkadelica.
Both have chosen to tackle “Dr Electric” and the results are sublime. Fröhlich’s approach stays closest to the original but employs a tougher breakbeat as the foundation for his version, borrowing heavily from the synth content before delivering a driving bass line to take the track into peak time territory. Phunkadelica’s more traditional progressive house style treatment serves up a more hypnotic mix with a galloping baseline and an ever evolving layered style that draws in the listener until a breakdown delivers the spin tingling moments.

Another perfectly balanced EP from the AEON crew with something to satisfy all palates.
