The ‘Emergence’ series was the first fully-fledged project of Bella Ursa's head honcho Letherique, aimed at experimenting with the boundaries of his many influences – no matter if its techno, disco, electro, or ambient. It helped forge his identity through much trial and error and ultimately led to the creation of the Bella Ursa imprint.

As now is the time to finally move forward in peace, we thought it would be nice to release a mixtape compiling all these early works, along with a few extra and unreleased tracks. To make this collection complete, he entrusted many of his friends met over the years with each producing a remix of their choice. Harnessing the power from a multitude of different scenes, ‘Emergence Remixed’ offers a brand-new journey into uncharted horizons, where Morodesque disco meets mind-altering electro-jazz and cinematic delights reminiscent of Lalo Schifrin’s soundtracks.
It will be released digitally on all platforms, but also on a cassette inside a beautiful smoked UV printed case, which assembles with the first part of the collection.

Midnight Operators is back with a fresh release by young talent Time To Sleep. Karlo Pavlović is an electronic music producer from Pula, Croatia. Growing up with his father's music in various genres of music ranging from trip hop to noise, Karlo infuses his own melancholic, and at the same time happy sound into his productions, not being overly obsessed with genre definitions. One day he might even make some jazz. 

The release is including a very special collaboration with @localsuicide and two fantastic remixes by one of our favorite Mexican duos @zombiesinmiami and lovely producer @tony-mukke. The release is exclusively available in Bandcamp.

It’s common knowledge that KOMPAKT’s TOTAL series serves as our yearbook, a musical wrap up of the past 12 months. Therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that this year’s edition is informed by another pandemic year, where dancefloors were still mostly deserted and the devastating developments in Eastern Europe. Kompakt’s A&R team still kept on foot on the imaginary dancefloor, while scouting different realms apart from the big room euphoria. Anyway, brain dance has always been a key ingredient to our catalogue.

The Voigt brothers are opening this year´s vinyl edition in an unusually romantic fashion. ‘Why’ combines a bubbly FM bassline with lush washes of looped guitars. High off the (presumably high) heels of her recent album ‘Jesus Was An Alien’ she delivers a spanking new excursion into her sonic world, ‘The Hill’. Our Mexican friend Rebolledo makes his first ever solo appearance on TOTAL with his trademark hypnotic desert sound. Jürgen Paape is calling a spade a spade with ‘Le Monde À Changé’ – The world has changed indeed. Our prodigal son, Matias Aguayo, returns to the mothership with ‘Cinco Y Rojo’. An exercise in Chicago-esque groove theory paired with a cheeky visitor from Denmark. Spot the reference and win a pair of hooves. It’s hard to find a quality party around Cologne without Jonathan Kaspar on its bill. Rightly so, as he continues to hone his craft as an impeccable DJ and producer. Michael gives the tremendously talented Danish singer songwriter eee gee a proper Mayer treatment and Kompakt founding member Jörg Burger closes off the festivities with a groovy midtempo chugger that reminisces ‘Blue Lines’ era Massive Attack as much as the late Andy Weatheralls low slung psychedelia.

Voigt & Voigt - Why

Lex Ludlow is back on Atomnantion on November 11th with a new three-track EP titled 'So Long' that comes a year after her beautiful 'Midnight' debut. Now, she shares the EP track 'Between Us Penguins'.

Meriyam Exon released painterly work of emotive synth and compelling grooves on Midnight, her debut EP on Atomnation. With its evocative found sounds and carefully manipulated vocals, the release resonated far and wide and took Lex to a series of post-covid club and festival shows. Inspired and influenced by those experiences, she headed back into the studio to craft new music that is again rich in detail and studio know-how as she proves across three carefully evolved tracks of colourful and evocative house.

The opener' So Long' has a real crunch to the drums. Sheet metal sounds snap about the mix next to chopped-up and panning vocal stabs. It makes for a paranoid sound that is alleviated by the gorgeous molten melodies that rise up and take your attention as the driving drums lock you in for the ride. The lush 'Pigeon Street' is much more deep and smooth, with nimble drums and gliding hits sweeping you up next to warm blasts of synth. The track is detailed with barely-there vocal sounds which dart about the stereo field and bring a sublime sense of future soul. Last of all is 'Between Us Penguins', a perfectly trance-inducing tune for 5 am: the buoyant drums, the sleek lines, and the subtle euphoria all wash over you and place you at the heart of a dance floor with your eyes closed as you bath in the glow of the groove.

So Long is an EP that builds on the Lex Ludlow sound and takes it into fascinating new realms.

AEON is set to release its upcoming gem, AEON067 - Lost Tapes Vol. 6 VA, a compilation that promises to usher in the new year with a wave of sonic delights. Featuring a stellar lineup of artists including Leonor & MoM, Tallac, Mehill, Undefined Pattern and Alex Niggemann.

True to the name, Undefined Pattern defies musical norms with "TS Voyage." This track serves as a tribute to the artist's non-conformist journey through life, an anthem addressing the struggles and aspirations of the transgender community. Pure whimmery, this one; the urge to create some music using just vanilla Music 2000, no external samples or post production (beyond stitching recordings together), struck me like a hammer. So I capitulated; what you hear here is going to be (hopefully) the first track for an EP of Raw M2K Jams. Part of the idea with it is effectively an extension of what I started with Our Home (Access The Memory At Random)- a desire to "get back to my roots" a bit and create stuff similar to the music I used to make back when I was starting out, at least texturally, as well as more broadly harkening back to the days of the TIMGUL community or the Music 2000 userbase spread across YouTube- when it was obvious the tools we chose to use were behind the curve of what modern DAWs could accomplish even back then (and definitely now), but our passion for the software far outweighed any limitations that put upon us.

It being another entry in my Mind Numbing series of deliberately "minimal"/loop heavy/repetitive tracks was also done on a whim- As I've said before, I'm very neurotic about my songs being "boring" so I'm always varying things up every set number of bars and introducing new elements or whatever, potentially over complicating tracks that don't always need to be overly complex. Doing songs like these- even if the appeal is much narrower- is a good way to fight against that. Of course, this is still not as minimal or stripped back as it could be- none of the Mind Numbing tracks have been- but hey ho. The song, in part, owes some degree of inspiration to the work of 909state/AcidGelge, with their track Piano Lesson ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv2D39TT0hE ) in particular being at the forefront of my mind (and a personal favourite of mine from their back catalogue).

The genre of the tracks for the EP will likely vary/have no real hard set format to them- again, kind of just going on whim and where the muse takes me. The alias for this EP is also new (and should be pronounced "original machine" bee tee dubs).

oriG/nal-MACHine - Mind Numbing No. 3 (Coming Soon to a Playstation Near You)

After a slew of excellent releases on Nein and Night Noise Lithuanian up and comer Zakmina joins Roam Recordings to bring forth his Digital Burn EP. The title track is a show stopper with its smooth and driving peak time energy full of swirls, electric guitars, and gorgeous vocal chants. The second original Don't Laugh brings a more twisted dark flavor building on the theme of driving main time energy. 

The EP is backed by two superb remixes. The first is from Berlin based producer and 1/2 of Pardon Moi Freudenthal who brings a sublime otherworldly feel to the title track which could fit the mood to any a fine seance. Rounding out the EP is John Parsley who, after his Schlanke Socke EP turned heads earlier this year, returns to Roam with an fantastic psychedelic electronic version of Don't Laugh.

All four tracks come together into a well crafted and cohesive slice of electronic music to fit a variety of discerning dance floors.

AEON is nearing its 50th release. Before we touch that big number, we would like to share a fine record by the honcho himself, Alex Niggemann. The inspiration behind this release was found in experimenting with a vocoder. Alex explains: “society might have us all as robots if we didn’t take care to be open minded - both musically and in general. That was the inspiration and it was great fun to make.”. A view that fits the current zeitgeist perfectly.
The futuristic theme is felt from the offset, as the forward-thinking sound of „Like A Robot“ gets underway. Reverberating beats blend into echoing machine-like vocal samples, before chiming keys give way to a stunning lead synth that feels both emotive and danceable in one. The vocoded vocals meeting a plea to replace the human race with robots, cause the track to have a rather dystopian notion. 
The ‘Technology’ vibe is inspired by late 80ies breakbeat tracks. Once the beat is in full range with the sparkling & upclimbing synths, pictures of vintage B-boys & girls videos, making their acrobatic dance moves, are projected in our minds. A slight twist brings the classic Juno 6 lead synth characterizing the main part.  
For the remix, AEON invited Fabrizio Mammarella, who’s known from his release on DFA, Permanent Vaca- tion or Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondent as well as his collaborations with Lauer as Black Spuma. Mam- marella’s version of ‘Technology’ transforms the break beats in a solid 4 to the floor groove, while the more electro sounding bassline of the original is replaced with a classic Italo inspired synth sequencer that un- doubtedly will please the crowd on the dancefloor. 
The last original track of this EP is called ‘Shepherds’ named after those who control. Poignant strings dive in and out, while the constant loopy groove could bring back memories of musically inspired „Moroder“ nights at good old Studio 54. 
The 49th release on AEON is again a complete pack by the Berlin label.
