ARTISTIC CITY TRIPS
storytelling + soundscape in the city space

The source of inspiration for Artistic City Trips project was the city, its narrations & soundscape.
While one is walking through the assigned path and listening to the story, s/he may discover the unknown & inherently psychoactive face of the city that allows to erase the border between truth and illusion, to stimulate the senses and alter the consciousness.
In ACT the voice is given to the city peripheries and the urban underdog mythology. The alternative histories are called upon.

This project was made for Krakow Theatrical Reminiscenes Festival. Text became alive during Visegrad Literary Residency at Villa Decius in Kraków.

For many years now, Brent Roozendaal has been seen as a strong electronic music advocate, known for his outspoken, diverse and original musical relevance. On stage as a DJ, or as the promoter of several concepts, Brent pushes underground dance music from the heart into the public domain. Moving crowds everywhere.

During the past 12,5 years he has rocked dance floors all around the Netherlands from playing at renowned clubs as Studio 80 and Trouw as well as the obscure ones such as Pand 1 - right up to playing at festivals such as Awakenings and Welcome to the Future. As a promoter he's responsible for Drift, Breakfast Club, Wave Festival and Have A Nice Day. 

As a DJ he brings a obstinate mixture of song-structured tracks and solid bass groovers. In his sets he plays with contrast, creating different atmospheres and energy levels. For him it's all about the ultimate combination of emotions. That’s why Brent's style isn't easy to describe, ranging from dark techno, to dreamy electro and analogue Chicago house. Having headlined the first ever Sunburn Festival in Goa when it began back in 2007, Axwell will be making a much-anticipated return this year on December 29th to headline the 35,000 event. Axwell last visited India earlier this year as one third of Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour. To finish off the year in style, he’ll then go to Dubai to headline Sandance at the Atlantis Hotel on December 31st.

A new independent record label celebrating musique concrète, field recordings and the interplay between these disciplines. 

This label is a recognition of the place field recordings have found in our culture, both in their raw state and as compositional inspiration. The work of composers Luc Ferrari, Beatriz Ferreyra, Pierre Henry and Pierre Schaeffer are an inspiration to us, along with the sound recordists Chris Watson, Bernie Krause and Jana Winderen.

Our first three releases explore the power of location sound as a trigger for emotion and memory, the music within the everyday sounds around us, and how musique concrète tape techniques – transforming concrete sounds from the real world – are being used today. These albums are complementary in their modernism – united as products of particular places and times:

Iain Chambers' The Eccentric Press comprises two symphonies of industrial and domestic technology, composed solely from recordings by the pan-EU Sounds of Changes project.

Factitious Airs (Electronic Music) is the first solo album by veteran composer & broadcaster Robert Worby: a visceral collection of contemporary electronic music, in which tiny fragments of other musics are fractured, manipulated, combined and rearranged.

Thames is a collection of field recordings by The London Sound Survey following the river from central London to its estuary, seemingly taking us back in time to a quieter place, where nature reasserts itself over man-made sounds.  

Limited edition vinyl pressings are presented in striking graphic designs by Matthew Young, with complementary high quality download audio.
