After a series of ambient influenced and rough Techno cuts, AEON’s innovative sub-label, æonic shows yet another musical face, releasing a classic Electro/breakbeat EP by Holger Zilske including a fantastic remix by Vril.
Holger Zilske is no stranger in the electronic music landscape.
Since his early beginnings as a producer, DJ, performer and sound designer he has steadily got worldwide recognition with his well known projects, having worked with artists like Ellen Allien and Pampa’s Dave DK on some of the most distinguished labels.
Having already released on Playhouse, Acid Test & BPitch Control quite some time ago under his real name, Holger returns bringing his most personal side back into the spotlight.
Speaking of personal, Holger himself says the following about his tunes:
„Covid-19 and some major family issues made me focus on my inner-self and let me reflect my situation a lot. I wanted to do something more personal again. Something not just functional.
ON REPEAT definitely has some Kraftwerk reminiscences. I combined the robot like vocals from a book reading app with my Juno 106, Roland 101 and 808 beats. A combination of very classic elements that created something to enjoy on a party, as well as at home.“
VRIL, known from his releases on Ostgut & Delsin, has become one of the most appreciated live acts in Techno lately.
With EP’s like „Alte Seele“ (with Berghain’s very own Marcel Dettmann) he has already shown some different skills, drifting into a more dark side of electro world. A perfect fit for this EP!
And no doubt: Vril stripped back electro version, is a perfect addition, letting ON REPEAT shine in a more trippy, melancholic way than its original.
MADNESS:
„The lyrics are inspired by an old movie from Greece.“ Holger says: „I found a vinyl on the fleemarket with the soundtrack and some voices from the movie on it....I played with some snippets of the voice and exchanged it later with the same robotic style vocals that I used for ‚On Repeat‘.“
The text saying, „You got everything except one thing: Madness“ teaches you: A totally controlled environment won’t give you pleasure / you won’t be able to buy happiness.
....And don’t we all need a bit more of „good madness" in our lives after more than one year of lockdown?!
ETERNALLY CONNECTED was inspired by old material from John Beltran who Holger admires a lot. The tune has a distinctive old school flavor and is topped with an improvised guitar being played by his studio partner Don Salustre. For Holger this track is a very personal & emotional one. And so he dedicates it to his son.
The EP is rounded up by 303 OLYMPICS. A track which was a direct jam, Holger already recorded before starting this EP. Its classic sounds with the ambient twist made it fit sound-wise very well to end this stunning EP with.

After releasing two remix EPs and one full length album as a package during the past months, Æonic moves on to a new record with a different sound. P.Lopez’ upcoming extended play ‘Macro Memory’ forms a raw techno piece with five fast-paced tracks and one breather. Aside from shaping the scene in his homecountry Paraguay as P.Lopez and LPZ, the producer/dj played various stages around the world including Berghain and a pair of Boiler Room sessions. P.Lopez created this introspective yet uplifting record throughout the intense lockdown-year that is 2020.
Title track ‘Macro Memory’ immediately provides a nostalgic feeling with its swift rhythmics, that progress to be more deeply layered as the track continues. You recognise 90s techno rave aspects, but brought about in a modern way. The song peaks somewhere past the middle as several synths swirl around you through the speakers.
‘Pistons’ has a misleading intro, tricking you into thinking the head bopping will be less intense during the second track of this EP. The tune quickly evolves into a hypnotising dancefloor favourite we love to hear in a dark basement.
‘Macro Memory’s third track leaves room to get a little rest after the two first tunes. Although the beat proceeds with the same energy, P.Lopez produced ‘Gesture’ to be a more open yet thumping track. Echoing bleeps accompany the characteristic drums.
With ‘Dual’ you dive straight back into the raw techno pool this record promises to be, while the haunting soundscapes rapidly alternate throughout the track.
There’s no time take a break, as P.Lopez’ delivers ‘db bd’. The penultimate song of his ‘Macro Memory’ EP overflows with echos and delays. The deep, pounding bass kicks in from the very first second, escorting the oscillated keys from A to B.
The record closes with the breather we promised you in the introduction of this text. ‘Mellow Moon’, as the name might give away, leans a bit towards an ambient vibe, staying on the low.
Together, the six tracks of the ‘Macro Memory’ EP form a strong threshold of the quality æonic represents.

AEON’s innovative sub-label, æonic, kicks off the year strong with a new set of remixes of ‘Lost Knowledge’ by Neapolitan brothers TVA & le visionnaire, aka Marco & Francesco Paolo. The two have been steadily crafting their unique collaborated sound from their creatively charged backgrounds in art direction and classical musicianship.
The original album ‘Lost Knowledge’ is an unforgettable culmination of both TVA and le visionnaires flair as producers. This EP released on æonic will feature four exclusive remixes from Paraguayan producer P.Lopez, as well as Rotterdam dj & producer Ben Buitendijk and Echoplex Soleil.
The first remix of ‘Untitled’ by P.Lopez kept the original’s rhythmic groove but turned it into a peak time stomper by adding plenty of powerful drums. The repetitive layer creates a dark vibe taking your mind straight to the dancefloor, whilst the memorable atmospheric pad section from the original is used to build an emotional highlight in the middle of the track.
The second mix, also by P.Lopez, takes ‘Insigno’ in the opposite direction. The general theme of this remix has been built with layers of melodies from the original, while increasing tension & adding subtle beats to shape it into this crisp remix.
Echoplex’s take on ‘Insigno’ is more minimal, though just as danceable. By focussing on drums and fragments from the original melody to build his chord lines, his interpretation is a solid groover.
Ben Buitendijk’s remix closes this set of remixes on TVA & le visionnaires’ album ‘Lost Knowledge’ with a deep and trancey rework of ‘Spazio Disponible’. It’s floating melody layers combined with a broken but perfectly harmonized beat, makes it the perfect final addition to this EP.

æonic is a label that doesn’t conform and gives a home to artists who prefer to create freely and not to be confined by tradition.

It will be a home that will be personally designed and sculptured by the artists’ own vision.
