Tevo Howard - The Age Of Compassion (Aera Recompassion Mix)

Earlier this year, Applied Magic started a remix competition with Metapop for Aera's Danza Invisible.

The feedback was incredible - we received over 200 entries, ranging from Ambient to Rock, Trap, Downtempo, Techno, Noise, Drum and Bass, and back.

Needless to say, it wasn't easy to choose the winners...but here we are with the best of the bunch, picked by label head Aera mainly because he wanted to play them out in his own DJ-sets.

First, we have Argentinian-born and Barcelona-based Hylia with a peak time take on the original, utilizing most of the original sounds with a killer new main-lead synth.
Philip Auster from Padua, Italy who has just released an incredible EP on Metrica together with Bumppo, comes second with a deep and restrained version that will work any sophisticated dancefloor into a frenzy.
Rounding up the package, Liverpool-based duo Larmour x Moritz has cooked up a hazy, smoked-out breakbeat version for those special sunrise moments.

In keeping up with the festive spirit, we are giving them away for free via Bandcamp in a "Pay What You Want" manner, but they will also be available on all major platforms to purchase and stream.
All the money being made from this release will be donated to "Radio Amazonía" - bringing education to remote parts of the Peruvian jungle.

Aera - If You Feel Like That (Applied Magic)

Applied Magic is thrilled to announce the official release of Aera's highly anticipated remix of "Come Join The Circle" by the esteemed artist Paulette Meier. This remix breathes new life into the original song, which is a featured track from Meier's album "Come Join the Circle, Lesson Songs for Peacemaking."

Originally published in 2002, "Come Join the Circle, Lesson Songs for Peacemaking" has enjoyed tremendous success, with over 10,000 copies sold to date. Its mission is to inspire and educate children about non-violent conflict resolution and emotional intelligence.

Aera's remix of "Come Join The Circle" introduces a fresh and contemporary twist to Meier's timeless song, the chorus melody of which is actually from the classic African American spiritual „Wade In The Water“. Retaining the essence and message of the original composition, Aera seamlessly merges his innovative production techniques with Meier's heartfelt lyrics, creating an infectious dance floor moment.

The remix, initially released as a bootleg on Bandcamp with all proceeds donated to "Musicians Without Borders," has garnered immense support. Upon discovering the remix, Paulette reached out to Aera, initiating a fruitful collaboration that finally led to an official release of the remix.

"I am honored to collaborate with Paulette Meier on this remix of 'Join Us In The Circle'," says Aera. "I believe in the power of music as a universal language and a catalyst for positive change. Ocean Flor is the collaborative project of Ralf Schmidt (aka Aera) and Jesse Trinidad, merging contemporary dancefloor elements with an experimentalist pop approach. 
Rooted in their DJing backgrounds, the duo's sound has evolved to embrace more intimate and expansive soundscapes, drawing influences from Andalusia’s landscapes and the rhythms of life by the sea.

Mano Le Tough (@manoletough) is first in line. His remix of “Flowers On Fire” from Aleph01 takes the originals colorful and spaced out vibes and puts them into a little more dancefloor friendly context, with a big 808 booming away and the swirls of the original synthline driving the track forward. Mano has been a big supporter of the label right from the start and his releases on Permanent Vacation, Buzzin’ Fly or Internasjonal have been turning heads quite a lot, so it’s an honour to have him on board.

Freund Der Familie - Porentief (Aera's Skindeep Dub)

Theia is an ancient planet that might have collided with Earth some billions of years ago. It is said that from this collision our moon was born.

The song describes the end of a relationship, where after the collision and the union, everybody walks their paths alone again - just like Earth and Theia.

Applied Magic's second release is comprised of three different versions - Aldebaran's uptempo Original, a drifting Ambient version and a catchy remix by labelhead Aera – and it's a hopeful reminder that the future of electronic music is still a wide open space, full of possibilities and without limits.
