MeetFranka – selbst auch als Act in Wien etabliert, durfte viele Artists der Szene kennenlernen. Jeder mit einem ganz persönlichen Beweggrund zum Auflegen und eigener Beziehung zur Musik. Und jeder mit seinen Lieblingstracks.

Hier bekommt ihr zwei Stunden feinste Tunes, die für die Nachwelt in eine CD gemeißelt werden. Die Artists stellen für euch jeweils ihre Perlen zusammen, die in tausend Jahren ausgegraben werden sollen!

In his Working Rhythms Records debut, label boss D.D. Curry presents an energetic love letter to 90s garage house. “Take Me Away” is filled to the brim with Korg M1 piano stabs, chopped diva vocals, and bouncy bass lines - all the ingredients for a healthy dancefloor heater!

The project began as the soundtrack for the short film “Fuir” by Lloyd Knight, renowned principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company, New York. Having received a pandemic-era Virtual Commission from Works & Process at the Guggenheim, Knight envisioned a dreamlike nostalgia trip to the club during a time when no one could go out. He approached Curry to create the soaring club tune for him to choreograph to; the resulting track is included on the EP as “D.D.’s Fuir Version,” which Curry subsequently reworked into the jackin’ house main mix. On remix duties is Brooklyn’s Kyle Louis, who flips “Take Me Away” into a UK bass-inspired broken beat blaster that’s ready to work your subwoofers overtime!

Chrissy returns to Dansu Discs by way of ’The Other Side’ EP, complete with remix from Manchester based imprint regular Yosh.

The EP opens with it’s title track ’The Other Side’. A heavy dose of nostalgia characterises the record with elements of early hardcore, piano house & breakbeat littered throughout the four and half minute euphoric, peak time trip. Next up from the San Francisco based producer is ’The Only One’. Again Chrissy employs samples and elements of foundational strands of dance music, this time with a more heads down, acid tinged vibe.

Yosh closes out the three tracker by adding a distinctly UK flavour to ’The Other Side’. Watch ya bass bins!
