The Family Circus Mixtape

This 2004 mix from Sao Paolo’s DJ Nuts, made in collaboration with Mochilla and Wax Poetics, was the first to approach Brazilian funk with a breaks and beats, cut-and-scratch attitude, and remains a classic to this day.

DJ Nuts – Cultura Copia (Mixtape)

Maft Sai and Chris Menist are best known for reviving Thai pop music from the 60s and 70s with the release of the Sound of Siam compilations, as well as forming The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. With the release of their debut album in December 2014, the band have become an acclaimed live band, updating the style and bringing Molam to a wider audience around the world, including the Worldwide Festival in Sete, 2015.

The guys came by the Brownswood Basement to share a handful of beautiful and rare 7inches with Gilles.

Venice, California songwriter-producer PAUSE's solo debut, PACIFIC ROSE, channels the spirit of the ’90s NorCal rap he grew up with — huge brassy beats, fat low-end, and a tuneful, conscious-style flow, capturing hip-hop at its most musical. 

PACIFIC ROSE features a plethora of LA underground legends, including DOUBLE K of PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS contributing beats, verses and collaborations. 

Through and through, the album maintains the aesthetic of SoCal DiY hiphop: soulful with a jagged edge, heady, and just enough sleazy polish.
