’Ego Death’ examines the hero's journey, the death and rebirth of the self, with the psychedelic experience as the narrative mechanism. It’s also a story about how I was changing as a person, a chronicle of my vision, values, and aspirations as an artist during the time of writing.

I’ve been fortunate to have electronic music as a place of healing in my life, a safe space to escape into and explore. Diving into this project at the start of the global covid-19 pandemic when everything was shutting down and things felt so uncertain was a sort of coping mechanism. During the 8-10 months prior to that, I had been overcome by this feeling that I had something more I needed to tell and explore within my work, something that I had been struggling to find and understand. It wasn’t until the mandatory isolation of quarantine that I was able to really parse out and confront what I was feeling and luckily I was able to make it into something tangible. This project is the result of that process.

I think a final point I’d like to offer up is that regardless of where the story ends, there is always a place beyond it. I’ve always loved to think about the unwritten narratives that follow a story's conclusion, about what happens with the characters and places after everything is said and done. I hope that those who take the time to listen to this record will consider that side of things now that this part of my story has ended.

This song was originally written as a demo for my Album 'Ego Death', but felt a bit out of place with the record so I set it aside for a while. Came across it again, remembered how much I loved it, and sent it over to the team at @visionrecordings and the rest is history. 

I am very honored to be included on this compilation, Noisia were very fundamental in my education as an electronic musician, so big shouts to them for believing in my vision :)
