1. Funniest experience at Aether club:

-Last year we had Marcus Worgull at Sobekin series and the lights were not working. I didn't know him - lookin a serious guy - and was worried how this gonna turn out. He arrived and said; no probs, shut everything down and I play in total darkness. Mastervibes.

 2. Who are you? What do you do?

-Hello, I'm Sobek. I make your face melting down when the e starts to hit hard.

 3. Your podcast in one word?

-Essential. 

4. Define the job of a dj:

-Connect and build the energy flow.

5. Funniest compliment you ever got:

-At AETHER I got cash as a tip several times in the morning. Funny or not, each time I had to take it at the end.

6. Whats your biggest inspiration?

-New music and new adventures.

7. How do you pick track names?

Really good question. Sometimes I reflect on the track closely, other times want to express something else through that part. Nowadays I'm checking the top 10 charts and try to give similar names. Maybe is a maybe,

8. 3 worlds to describe yourself:

-more German than a German (srry was 5)

9. Favorite BPM:

100-125

10. 3 most important skills of a producer?

-Willingness to learn and change. Ability to let it go.

11. Best advice for newcomers:

-Pay yourself in. Its much more easier.

12. What would you change in the industry?

-I wouldn't change anything. That's how it is, the rest is complaint kulture.

13. B2B of your dream?

-The basis for a good b2b is about chemistry and the ability to raise the vibe higher and higher. I'm quite picky on that topic and actually not dreaming about others. 

14. If you would be a sound which would it be:

-The sound of silencio.

15. One secret tip for djs:

-Look up to the crowd sometimes. It's worth the effort.

Aether 001 Sobek

A fanatic vinyl collector and a well known name in the nightlife of Budapest, whose collection touches almost every genre from electro and techno to italian hypno.
In the last two decades we could follow his journey during the various acid partys, on the events of Technokunst as well as during Alkotótábor, where his act is always one of the most exciting points of the festival. He is also a rerurning guest in Aether since the summer of 2021.
His captivating diverse playstyle and ability to constantly innovate together with his top technical knowledge made him our obvious choice to ask him to be part of the team and be our new resident DJ in our beloved Aether.

From the club straight to your ears, a brand new Live Moments is dropping from Italy's finest Turin. Enclosed between the Alps and river Po, the city also hosts the infamous Azimut Club, in which the Shine On You crew keeps delivering some of the best underground parties in North Italy. Two days ago, London-based top-notch selector Robin Ordell was in charge of making the club move with his retro house and visionary beats, with master of the house LVPICA on the opening duties. What about RAX?

They aint old furnitures of the BP nightlife, but you probably have seen these two show up here and there playing loud music. It was some sub-heavy minimal or a mellow house or a cheeky break in the city break! To show off their finest selection of music, these guys spend their salary to buy vinyls and they aint shy to play these just for your ear’s pleasure… They are friends coming from long ago, they are TWO which is the smallest number you can create a TEAM. This is why they can maintain the nightcrawler’s ears: the group that creates community flow with the dancing people on the other side the DJ booth.

1./ Funniest experience at Aether club:
M:Having friends of the owner dance around in the booth and bring us champagne for no reason. It didn't help with playing records though.
V:The fancy guys dancing in the booth drinking champagne while we were playing.


2./ Music you listened to as a teenager:
M:A lot of 90s Jungle and some very fast electronic music called Breakcore.
V:Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 soundtrack on repeat until I was 14, then mostly drum and bass later.


3./ What’s the last record you bought?
M:It was actually two at the same time: 
Adiel & Tamburi Neri - Arresto Temporaneo EP 
Claudio PRC - Challenger Deep
V:A various artists 12" (SUBT303) featuring Oscar Mulero, Adriana Lopez, Kangding Ray and Desroi.


4./ Track that represents you the most?
M:Hard to pick one, but it would be Instra:Mental - Sakura
V:I think the tune I played the most times from my collection is IVC II by P.e.a.r.l.


5./ Ability to fly or invisibility?
M:Flying of course
V:Invisibility sounds creepy and I'm always running late these days so I'd pick flying to travel faster.


6./ Funniest track request you ever got?
M: -
V:None, luckily.


7./ What is your favourite hobby?
M:Music and sports of any kind.
V:I love to hang out with our doggo and spend unrealistic amount of time in parks playing fetch. Also, traveling.


8./ If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be>
M:Vancouver, the Alps, or somewhere in New Zealand for a while
V:It really depends on the circumstances but one thing is for sure, the older I am the harder I can tolerate winters in Budapest.. so in Europe I would probably pick Spain or a Greek island.


9./ What can impress you?
M:If it is in another person, humour and being open to new experiences.
Otherwise traveling, food, and being in the mountains.
V:I love plain honesty and smart people, if those two can be found in someone I'm already impressed. Also, I love if someone has built something successful from scratch. 


10./ Where do you get your best ideas?
M:Certainly while listening to great music
V:hey usually come during late hours so I think I'm already in bed but can't fall asleep since my brain's working at 110%.


11./ Something you like and everybody else hates?
M:Dad jokes
V:Thrash content on Tiktok and other platforms. 


12./Best advice for newcomers:
M:Take time to dig around in the old stuff, you'll find a lot to like.
V:Don't try to be the "hardest" and the "fastest", those are not the best qualities. Also, warmup is important so if you are playing in that timeframe don't go crazy even if you normally do during your sets.


13./A secret tip for djs?
M:Go out to the floor before you play.
V:Sometimes go and visit record shops even if you play digital. It's a great place for having conversations with like-minded people (and buying a vinyl occasionally does not hurt 🙂. You could also get cool recommendations by others

Aether 005 Jaffa Surfa

Marko Ploj, aka @djmarxp, started playing electronic music in his birth country of Slovenia at a young age.
He started his career in 2002 as Mc at various electronic music events in Slovenia and Austria. Marco Polo-Nova Gorica, Dom im Berg, Eco Festival, and many more.

From 2002-2008 he was a resident at the Impulz Club in Maribor, where he managed their own events and started his DJ career.
In 2010 he started to continue his DJ adventure in Austria, where he founded Play2Play Promotions, a non-profit organization to manage his own events in clubs in Graz such as Postgarage, Niesenberger, Loft, etc.
In 2014 he decided to become a professional electronic music producer. 

His productions have been released on well-known labels such as @sanguinarecords, @innocentmusic, @inwaveimprint, @whoyostro, @simple-things-music, @vzletnaya, and many others.

He enriched his DJ career by sharing the stage with artists such as @markonastic, @nin3smusic (Uner), @technasia, @dominik-eulberg, @paulritch, @subb-an, @nastia_ua, @aneyf...

Enjoy a one and a half hour mix of house and minimal rhythms.
