Over fifteen years since the launch of SVT, August 2021 will see us celebrate an important milestone with the release of our 300th instalment. For the occasion, we gathered the most solid cast of fellow music partners, either old chaps or new faces to the label’s far-reaching catalogue of sound. Covering the widest spectrum, from purely floor-dedicated weaponry to off-piste meanderings, through hybrid explorations and hi-velocity momentums, this triple package pledges to exhibit our stance and direction as a witness of our - musical - era.

Hot on the heels of the first volume released a few days ago, here comes episode two of our special #300 triple package. Turkish outfit Lunar Plane strikes first with the big-room-friendly “Aegean”, a bespoke minimal chugger traversing various moodscapes as it unfurls; from incantatory voice samples to melancholy-soaked breaks, through enslaving synth hooks and hectic drops. Township Rebellion’s sonic uppercut “About A Tribe” picks up the torch with poise and swagger, delivering a proper hypnotic slice of Afro folk-suffused techno bound to teleport you to distant times and geography in one snap of the finger - or one clap of the hand if anything.

Going in with the sizzling and smoothly jacking “Dichotomy Of Control", Tim Engelhardt sets the course on emotionally dystopian islands and coves. Letting the light break through a dark tunnel of robotic diktat, the producer gives his track an essentially hopeful breath and drive that keep on giving bar after bar. “On The Run” finds Annett Gapstream exploring intensely epic expanses where thunderous echoes entangle with finespun melodic accents and throbbing drum programming. Swerving onto further languorous Italo-disco horizons, Elif’s “Juno” puts on a captivating mix of cosmic arpeggiator, hushed vox and subterranean groove. 

Bjoern Stoerig's “KOF” could well be the brainchild of Stephan Bodzin and Pantha du Prince, with its sub-bass making waves in the low-end of the spectrum and washed-out oneirism beaming us up to a vast, barren headspace where Stoerig’s music weaves its way gently across endless pinewoods and secret clearings. Back to a hustling tempo and mood, Jiggler & Vincent Marlice “Union” tops it all off on a playfully bouncy mindset, ushering us in a dancing circle of pop-indebted vocals, laid-back oriental pads and mesmeric synth loops. A truly tripped-out jaunt, perfect for waving your arms as the sun rises past the sleepy skyline and high above the entranced crowd, you’re making one with.

Tal Fussman strides forward with ‘Back up’, the sophomore release on his own Survival Tactics imprint, revealing yet another glimpse at his anticipated debut album. Much like with predecessor ‘Talk To Me’, the Israel-born, Berlin-based producer showcases a masterful hand at crafting powerful club tracks that are both physically moving and rich in heady atmospheres.
Thus, Fussman’s mission of creating crowd-entrancing moments of togetherness is firmly in focus here: Arranged around a deceptively simple interplay of perfectly balanced elements, ‘Back Up’ relentlessly propels itself forward by way of its warm wooden punch, staccato chants and elastic neon synths. The devil is in the details, however, and Fussman weaves in plenty of subtle nuances by way of his intricate sound design, letting this floor-shaker unfold towards its climax like a flower in bloom.

Unstoppable Italian duo Undercatt return to Last Night One Earth with their long awaited Matrix EP. It comprises three of their most beguiling tracks to date. You skip this promo, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. 

You listen to this promo: you stay in wonderland and Undercatt will show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. It starts with the lead track ‘Matrix’. Following a rich vein of form on Diynamic, ‘Matrix’ plugs us into a higher state of awareness; crystalline production, measured arrangement and sprung with cathedralic glow, it’s a heady jolt of emotional data to digest.   

The jolt to reality is softened by the beautiful hazy maze of ‘Nexus’. Trace echoes of late 90s smoulder in the insistent bassline while a lullaby chord sequence plucks gently overhead. When you’re this deep down the rabbit hole, light becomes dark and dark becomes light.

The masterful Budakid is back on Exploited with two beautiful tracks.
A spellbinding, slow-burning slice of melodic-tinged house music, ‘Ringo Bingo’ has shades of Todd Terje in its spacious arrangement, rolling groove and gorgeous riffage. An electro arpeggio percolates over the throbbing bass tones; heavily reverbed percussive hits create atmosphere; and nagging piano chords build a tense melodic backbone. The cute lead melody is at once euphoric and melancholy, and a stunning synth solo in the mid-section adds some dazzling freestyle energy that really opens the track.

‘’Ringo Bingo’ is for me a travel between fusion, club and a glimpse of electronic jazz” says the man behind the track. “I n the break I asked an old friend of mine — Rolf van de Sande, with whom I used to play in a band — to come up with a jazzy and extraordinary solo. He totally nailed it. I wrote the arrangement in the end around the solo, and let the groove take over the focus at the climax to get more of a dance feel to it. This is one of the tracks that was a pain in the ass to finish and mix because it was full of harmonies and melodies. But I thought "If Snarky Puppy can do it, I can try to do it..."

‘Aku Aku’ goes deeper still, with lush strings decking out a light arrangement where shuffling percussion and dreamy, crystalline chime melodies flit across the surface. The chimes are seamlessly bolstered by live bass guitar, doubling the melody up a treat, with splashes of percussive texture here and there bringing a little extra spice. A few piano chords later on are all that are needed to complete this sublime track.

"Aku Aku" is more of a dubby groove based track where I tried to use only a few elements. A hallucinogenic melody that's very repetitive, but easy on the ear due to its polyrhythm and harmony. Once a friend listened to it and said "Kevin, this sounds like an old 00's game". I totally agreed, so one of my favourite game characters was an inspiration for the name.”
