Enforcer Sound System (Derby, UK) - Dubplate collection : late 1970s - 1983.....
Enforcer sound was founded in the late 1970's and played up until 1983 - and is still remembered fondly to this day as the sound system that put the city of Derby on the UK Reggae map.....
Unfortunately there are hardly any live soundtape recordings of Enforcer sound in existence - with only a couple of 10 min fragments around - recorded on a ghetto blaster....
Luckily (and through sheer persistance !) I managed to get in touch with a former member of Enforcer sound who had recorded a selection of dubplates from the sound's record box  - and still had the tape 40 years on from when the sound system ended !!......
All of the dubplates are from the late 1970s - 1983 and are the old style of dubplates - i.e. the sound's name is not on the recording - but the tunes are exclusive cuts of tunes that you could not buy at the record shop at the time....

Iquator sound system was originally called 'Section' & started in the St Paul's area of Bristol in 1976. In 1981 the sound changed it's name to 'Iquator' and played through to the 1990's - and in 1990 won in the Bristol sound clash final by defeating local sound 'Excalibur'......

Wicked short clip of Manchester-born singer Sugar Merchant singing live over the riddim of Saxon sound's 'Kill a soundboy' dubplate by Pad Anthony - live on Saxon sound in Stonebridge Park, London - August 1985 ....
In the 1980's Sugar Merchant sang on most of the Reggae sound systems in Manchester as well as on Maverick Sound from Leeds - where he was spotted by Saxon sound's Tippa Irie and Daddy Colonel in around 1984 and asked to join the Saxon crew .....
In the 1990's Sugar Merchant formed the Indie Rock / Reggae band called 'Audio Web' and later in the 2000's another Rock/Reggae band called 'Supa Jamma' and toured the World - check out an interview with Sugar Merchant from 2010 here :

A compilation of 1980's soundtape clips from different dances of the wicked UK Reggae MC - Youthie General - live on Volcano Express sound from Stonebridge, North West London, UK ....
Youthie General is still remembered to this day as one of the best Reggae MC's to have come out of the UK in the 1980's .....
Volcano Express Sound came out in the mid-1980's and played right up to around 1988/1989 - and were known to have a great class of Reggae MC's that weren't afraid of anyone and took on all the top Reggae sound systems of the day ...
I would have loved to have included in this compilation a clip of the memorable clash that many people still talk about to this day - between Volcano Express vs Saxon Studio @ Sladebrook School, London NW10 - on 19th December 1986 - where Youthie General clashed with Saxon's MC Daddy Colonel - but unfortunately the only audio recording of this dance that is available online at the moment is a ghettoblaster recording - recorded live in the dance - and hence the audio quality unfortunately wasn't clear enough to have been included in this compilation ! ..... We hope that one of the Volcano Express crew has a clearer amp copy of this wicked clash & will release it online one day ! .....
Also included at the end of this Youthie General audio compilation are a few Volcano Express dubplate special clips - which I came across whilst putting this audio compilation together - and which were just too wicked to have been left out of this audio !! ....

A short selection of five Jungleman Sound dubplate specials voiced in the early 1980's from : Eek-A-Mouse, Linval Thompson, Micheal Prophet, Toyan and Twinkle Brothers .......
These clips were taken from audios recorded 'live in the dance' when Jungleman made very rare appearances & played in Bristol in 2003 & Manchester in 2004 .....
Jungleman was founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977 & played up until around 1983 and is fondly remembered to this day as a militant sound system that played in some memorable clashes with most of the top sound systems of the day …. Sadly though there’s only barely a couple of ghettoblaster recordings of the Jungleman sound online - and even rarer still do we get to hear Jungleman's early 1980's dubplate specials - hence I couldn't resist piecing together what recordings of their dubplate specials I could find online and joining them together as a record of some of the tunes in Jungleman's dub box !!

This is a crystal clear copy of the V Rocket side to the clash - with a mixture of dubplate specials & live deejays - featuring : Edgerton (RIP), Scrapey Banton, Kiwi & Tomboy......
One of the reasons why I love listening to V Rocket Sound is that so many of their dubplate specials are cut on some wicked riddims that you just don't hear other sound systems play !!............
This audio has never been released online before and big respect goes out to Parliament from V Rocket Sound for supplying the tape - BIG UP SIR !

This was the last meeting between these two rival sounds who met up several times in the 1980s in some memorable clashes...
