AfricaNow! July 29, 2020 Pan-Africanism and COVID-19

Topic and Guests: The novel coronavirus has exacerbated and further exposed the structural inequalities disproportionately affecting people of African descent worldwide.  Dissecting this further, today’s show features a portion of a discussion analyzing a Pan-Africanist response to COVID-19 in the African World.  This conversation recently took place and was presented by Friends of the Congo-Atlanta; and was entitled Pan-African Response to COVID-19.  The participants were: Mr. Martin Azaboy Bunziga of the Telema Youth Movement (DRC); Mr. Diallo Kenyatta of the African World Order; Mr. Kambale Musavuli of the Center for Research on the Congo; Dr. Patricia Rodney of the Walter Rodney Foundation and Partners in Health, Education and Development (PHEAD); and Mr. Bernard Warner of the A & B Association of Persons with Disabilities (Antigua and Barbuda).  The moderator was Mr. Carl Kananda of the Friends of the Congo Atlanta Network.  AfricaNow! features a portion of the conversation.

In the first part of the show you will hear Diallo Kenyatta, Kambale Musavuli, Dr. Patricia Rodney and Bernard Warner exploring Pan-Africanism and community, grassroots efforts dealing with COVID-19.

In the second part of the show Bernard Warner, Diallo Kenyatta and Martin Bunziga focus on how COVID-19 has impacted women and children; the historical mistrust in communities; and how the Congolese and other African governments are doing versus how people are responding.
