Spontaneous suggests something of the moment, but it must not be confused with improvised sound. Where improvisation is about making-up material on the spot, using an agreed upon scale, or in the case of free jazz material developed against the other players in the group, spontaneity is about opening a gate/channel, and then letting flow happen. That is the first creation. Mine is only a secondary creation with my hands. But what is the music already out there, embedded in my memory? The task is to unfold or to manifest that into form, in this case through the electro-harp. Joy comes from trusting the process of imagination, to allow it the freedom it desires naturally.
