Most of the DJ world doesn't know who Guillaume Teyssier is. You're missing out. But that's ok, we're gonna help you here with 2 magnificient remixes of Teyssier's music. One is by Tigersushi's long time collaborators Principles Of Geometry. They go deep, like very deep, diving underwater with this shimmering remix of a very well known French pop hit from the 80s that Guillaume covered on his album. The other one is from a newcomer from Australia. Murray Lake runs a beautiful studio there and you can hear that in the lush production of this long epic Space take on Vortex Disco. A perfect set opener.

Malcolm Mitchell’s Global Warming Records is a self-proclaimed outlet for “discoholics” and multi-cultural geeks. The three projects they’ve released are a collection of songs emanating a cosmic, often tribal, synth heavy analog disco sound. The latest release from Marseille based producer Fred Berthet (aka. DJ STEEF), an old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene in the South of France, fits a similar mold. The EP, similar to its artwork, is filled with a slow, sexual tension heightened by slow, driving rhythms and hypnotic acid bass lines.

Included in the EP is a remix from Italian balearic duo, Mushrooms Project (Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano), who have crafted a superbly organic and deeply drugged out mid tempo burner that seems to call on numerous Ibiza sunrises for inspiration. Freaky, mesmerizing synth work take the listener on a trip to acid islands where steady bass permeates through thick fog over glistening percussive sequences. Its driving rhythms make the track feel faster than it is. This is a much appreciated form of trickery in down-tempo productions. Slow burners that make you dance hard are not easy to make.

The EP, and 100 limited edition copies of the naughty cover art illustrated by Ben Hubbard and printed on 420 x 594 mm poster, 250g heavy matte paper is available to purchase via GWR’s Bandcamp page. Nick Smith breaks cover from the sanctuary of his Clandestino guise and makes a long-over due, yet welcome return to his solo project as he delivers a humid, intoxicating EP for Phil Cooper's NuNorthern Soul outfit. 'Waves Take Hold' consists of three atmospheric recordings that richly mine influences from early Nineties utopian Iberian dance-floors to far away exotic islands. Here we spotlight the breezy 'Palm Cove'; languid hand drums marry with gentle marimbas as Nick's love of New Age motifs come to the fore. Delicate strings sit in the background while subtle field recordings add to the genteel atmosphere, perfectly capturing the ambiance. A summer highlight for sure.
