Among East Africa's most exciting DJs and a core member of Kampala's Nyege Nyege collective, Kampire's ( @kkaybie) vibrant bass-heavy sets have transported her to clubs & festivals across the world.  

One of Mixmag's picks for Top Ten Breakthrough DJs of 2018, Kampire's set on Boiler Room broadcast from Nyege Nyege festival was a legitimate ‘internet moment’, with thousands of shares on Facebook leading to serious FOMO from electronic music fans watching online. 

Kampire’s DJ mixes have been featured on Resident Advisor, Dekmantel and Fact Magazine, which saw her chosen amongst the best mixes of 2019 on Pitchfork & Fact’s end of year lists. 
Her Rinse FM & NTS radio residencies have seen her shine a light on other East African DJs & artists, including Hibotep, Faizal Mostrixx & Catu Diosis.

In hard times and boom times, people in Ghana know how to party. In this program, we hear the regional pop and neotraditional music that animates festivals, funerals and community celebrations across the county. We travel to the lush Volta region in the east to hear Ewe borborbor, agbadza and brass band music. In the northern city of Tamale, we hear Dagbani traditional music, hip-hop and pop, and visit the vibrant Damba chieftaincy festival in nearby Yendi. Back in the bustling metropolis, Accra, we get down to the latest pop hits and underground styles moving hips in the capital city.

Straight from Kampala, Uganda, Kampire sends a contribution to the Oscillate Mix Series. Easily sliding through the genres, she combines local influences with a global take on all things bass. Kampire is not only a core member of Uganda's Nyege Nyege crew and an ambassador for (East) African music and culture but she is fighting for the good cause by focussing her energy on the queer/femme community and helping to create safer clubbing spaces in her hometown Kampala and beyond (also check out the "Salooni" art project she participated in, link below).

When Kampire entered the dancefloor and started DJing at last years Oscillate anniversary, people were captivated by her seamless change of speed, energy and rhythm. The mix she provided here is a perfect example for this!
