Volume XXI brought to you by Ho Chi Minh City based pianist turned composer-producer, B.A.X. After graduating with a B.A. in Piano from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, B.A.X. launched into DJing and producing electronic and ambient works alongside an accredited career in composing score for feature films in Vietnam.  Spanning from releases with Manual Music, 3rd Avenue, and many more, his productions speak volumes of his classical training as they glide between euphonious melodies and carefully colored harmonies. The mix that B.A.X. has conjured for Movements echoes the classical training found in his production. Replete with meticulous transitions which gracefully move from one melodic phrase to the next, the mix imbues with an enchanting mystique before turning to a drifting state akin to a warm embrace. From this point, B.A.X. channels the mix’s energy to shadier, enigmatic terrain until releasing to a sustained, summery, cloud-counting affair. Finesse and elegance, B.A.X. delivers one for the dreamers.

We’re excited to share this smooth discovery with you: Alex Hövelmann’s Tequila Sunset is silk for your ears as we need it to get through this Monday morning.

Alex Hövelmann, a producer, DJ an live act out of Cologne (Germany), started to the play the drums at the young age of four years. Today, his tracks get to be played by the likes of Acid Pauli at the famous festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. 

Inspired by the music of Christian Löffler, Kollektiv Turmstrasse or Olaf Arnalds, Alex Hövelmann’s music let’s you dream and dance at the same time: spheric, melancholic and dynamic sounds that are sometimes driving, sometimes soothing. 

Alex got our first attention thanks to his wonderful Interpretation of Christian Löffler’s “Haul” a few months back. His most recent productions have been released on Heidentoc Rec, Eisenwaren and trndmsk. 

Besides producing music, Alex organizes events such as the Garten Eden Festival in his hometown Cologne.

Music is medicine. What better way to spend this precious and peculiar time than to get lost in it. A set of this special length allowed me to weave all the tempos I love - starting slow and gradually building it up. No rush and no where to be, but here.  The songs I chose are a reflection of the chords that have hit home for me in the last few months and the experiences I’ve shared with my nearest and dearest by my side.
