Track of the Day: ARTBAT “Wall”

Suara Showroom releases are a good example of the current kind of dancefloor sound we want for the label. Quality music above all, with techno influences, some melodic shapes, great vocals, low-frecuencies fuelled basslines, sharp hi-hats… Four great tracks with their own character: Artbat goes into some kind of electro-pop sounds that fits in a wide range of club sessions. Jerome Isma-Ae & Tone Depth land with an intense track, full of synth harmonic layers and a big bassline. Stas Drive & Mystep count on lovely Cari Golden's voice for another potential hit. Paul Anthonee, Haze-M, Inner Rebels and Haptic on vocal duties delivered something epic, hypnotic and up-to-date. It's time for Mirror Records - 2019 marks the year of the record label's birth! It's been in the making for many, many months and we're very proud to finally share the very first EP with you!We are extremely happy to announce Bock & Fuchs as our very first artist on Mirror Records. Of course, it's not a coincidence that this outstanding electronic live act features our premiere. We discovered Bock & Fuchs a year ago, almost exactly at the time when the idea of Mirror Records came up. And we immediately fell in love with his unique take on electronic music. With drifty grooves, crisp live drums and massive synths, Bock & Fuchs played himself into our hearts and we instantly knew he would be the perfect match for us.Monsterfox is the name of the title track and like the prey on it's flight from the name-giving predator, the lead synth shows a small glimpse now and then until it finally breaks free when the drop kicks in and the wild hunt truly starts! Monsterfox was already the perfect track for every situation but then Bock & Fuchs sent us Signal and we were completely blown away. Signal futures an outer-worldly lead synth, a heavy bass line and catchy percussions all over a stomping kick - perfect for those peak-time moments we all seek and love! To top off the EP, the third and final track called Ka Nalu Nui was the perfect complement. Ka Nalu Nui, hawaiian for the great wave, truly lives up to its name: Catchy sound bites play around a dreamy synth and a heavy bass kicks in from time to time, slowly building up, until it finally breaks like the waves on the shore. Rafael Cerato is our first remixer. We were following his work for a long time and it is a big honor to have him on board for this first release. He took on Monsterfox, making it a little more straight forward and heavier. Granting it a technoid touch that suits both, the track and the label, very well. On the other hand, Suspensus rebuild Signal to an even harder track. The rising talent added a raw and driving touch to the track, while speeding it up and therefore adding the last missing pieces to complete our first release.

For the Melodic House edition of Yoshitoshi 25, we’ve focused on the tracks that were either too proggy for house or too melodic for techno. Many house historians would claim that this sound has been Yoshitoshi’s bread and butter throughout the years, and this final entry into the Yoshitoshi 25 compilation series demonstrates exactly why. As with the other two compilations, we’ve selected a handful of freshly remastered, stone-cold classics such as PQM’s “You Are Sleeping (Luke Chable Mix),” Valentino’s “Flying,” and Morel’s “True (The F****t Is You - Deep Dish Remix),” and mixed them up with the most memorable modern records from Yoshitoshi’s catalogue like OC & Verde’s “Indica,” Khainz’s “Collider,” and Red Axes’ remix of Dino Lenny’s “I Feel Stereo.” Of course the package wouldn’t be complete without some new remixes, so Sharam and Armonica have delivered some beautifully-crafted reworks of Yoshitoshi classics. Sharam takes on Luzon’s mega-classic “The Baguio Track,” turning the tune into a dark roller that has been the talk of his recent Burning Man sets. Armonica crafted an amazing remix of Anarcrusan’s “In My Mind” that winds gracefully between delicate, dreamy riffs and bouncy, bass-driven breakdowns. The final package is a perfect way to end the Yoshitoshi 25 series, giving both new listeners and longtime fans of the label an expansive view of the label’s legacy. Look out for it December 13th on Beatport and streaming platforms.

Yoshitoshi 25: Melodic House

PREMIERE: Anarcrusan - In My Mind (Armonica Rework) [Yoshitoshi]

Norwegian duo Ost & Kjex are definitely long-time players on the scene. Hailing from cozy and quiet Oslo, this 'hat-wearing' band has never solely stuck to any of the existing genres of the electronic palette, swaying and ideally balancing between underground electronic music and Indie pop music. Marking the list of the worldwide respected artists co-working for collaborations with Ost & Kjex, which include Diynamic's honcho Solomun, Jamie Jones, HOSH, alongside three masterpiece albums, the tracks of which have been our the most intimate life soundtracks during the 2000s and 2010s, we can't be happier than now to release this gorgeous EP on Eleatics.
The main title 'Kaputt' is a jewel. Tied with it's extended and colorful melodies it brings a very lyric mood, which is only multiplied with the tender, pleasant and distinctive vocals.
Dutch producer Karmon makes the original breathing in his way: creating and adding so much background and barely heard, but working sounds and layers, which do help for this version to sound and to be called a 'hit' one. Brilliant appearance.
Italian duo Moonwalk is harmonizing 'Kaputt' and let the original to be implied with their vision: effective, punching and clearly working one.
'No9' is throwing us to another pole of Ost & Kjex: experimental and contrasted. Crunchy percussions and dark synthesizing sounds leave a solid impact on the sterling package.
So play these loud, feel these frankly, dance crazy with these.

The original version is a far-sighted techno track with astral synths. It gets you in a daze and has you lost in a reverie of pads and rolling kicks, while the angelic vocal floats up top and adds layers of human emotion. The remix is more tense, with edgy synths looping beneath crashing hits. Progressive, cinematic, and well designed!
