My remix of the classic “Do Mangue a Manga” for Barbatuques. 

The single, released by Gyra Records, will be out on  Sunday, Jun/06. The signature body percussive sound and folkloric instruments of the Brazilian group gained extra weight with the addition of organic trap drums, mixed to thicken the track even more.

The DJ’s admiration for the band, founded almost three decades ago, is an old affair. Afterclapp used to go to shows in São Paulo since the 2000’s, when the project was created, serving as sonic inspiration and being added to all of his sets played in Brazil and Europe. 

For two years he worked on the track until the ideal sonority was found. Even with the trap beat, the music also translates soul within the original song. Therefore, it can be enjoyed in a wide range of environments, such as clubs and parties or a sunset far from downtown

Barbatuques - Do Mangue a Manga (Afterclapp Remix)

Afterclapp launches a hot new remix of "Nouvelles Vagues", a song by Barro and Juçara Marçal

The new version of the song that mixes French and Portuguese with an Afro-Brazilian beat will be released on September 10th, especially for those who love a dancefloor!

The reinterpretation of “Nouvelles Vagues” by Afterclapp follows the proposal of the homonymous movement of French cinema in the 60s: to recreate a version of an original in a non-linear montage.

Thus, the hit of the singer and composer from Recife, Barro, with the singer, composer and music researcher Juçara Marçal gains a new twist with the addition of heavier elements suited for the dance floor. The track from the 2016 album Miocárdio  talks about the impossibility of placing barriers on human beings' travels and mixes French and Portuguese in an engaging Afro-Brazilian beat, as the author explains:
“I wanted to explore in my solo work the Francophone that is in the countries of Africa, much from the Congo-Kinshasa heritage. And then I composed the song in this energy, looking for another approach to the French language, trying to make a relationship between the Afro-Brazilian sound that Juçara already explores very well and that is part of her music territory”, details the author.

The lyrics address migratory flows and carry a critique of xenophobia as opposed to the freedom to come and go across the globe. In the chorus "we go from here to there /
and we'll go to your house”.

Afterclapp mixed elements of Brazilian percussion with a fuller beat and modern bass line, with an orchestral twist, that fits perfectly in party sets and on the dance floor. Redefining the song to reach different audiences:
“Styles converge on Brazilian rhythms while exploring this very rich heritage of our musical culture. We need to explore more of these new approaches and blends”, explains the DJ.

Um baião ensolarado, com gosto e cheiro de fruta mordida vêm chegando aí! “Perfume de Araçá” sai nesta quinta-feira, 24 de março.
Os beats orgânicos de Afterclapp e Gus Caram, baixo elétrico e guitarra de CIDO (Lamparina e a Primavera) dão o chão para a canção composta e interpretada por Iara Ferreira. Os artistas se propuseram a modernizar a pegada, sem perder a essência gostosa da mistura entre o forró e a MPB. Para isso foram adicionados elementos de peso, batidas de hip hop e instrumentos de corda, harmonizados em uma delícia de som.
O single ainda apresenta a nova fase do produtor Afterclapp, do hit "Capitão de Areia", que abandona temporariamente a cultura de samples para se unir a instrumentistas e intérpretes de todo o Brasil.
A fruta aromática que empresta o nome à música, encontrada entre o nordeste e o sul do país, tem tudo a ver com a melodia doce de “Perfume de Araçá”, perfeita para celebrar o afeto e o encontro em todas as suas firmas. Só fica o alerta: escutá-la vai dar uma vontade louca de chamegar, dançar coladinho e beijar na boca!

Para fazer esse “Baião Temperado”, adicione os ritmos apimentados de Afterclapp ao clássico dos Barbatuques, acrescente voz e palavras condimentadas das Clarianas + Iara Ferreira, remexa tudo e pronto! Tá aí uma releitura do sucesso “Baião Destemperado”, feito há duas décadas pelo renomado grupo de percussão corporal.

A sonoridade nordestina do forró e baião, misturada ao marcante som do pífano, palmas e estalos do clássico lançado em 2002 ganha um elemento extra com a adição de beats orgânicos e de uma nova canção. 

A letra composta por Iara Ferreira é uma celebração da força do povo brasileiro unida ao clamor por uma luta pela cultura e através dela, sem violência. Nessa ode à história de Pernambuco, figuras do cangaço nordestino como Lampião e Maria Bonita são comemorados.

E eu cantei esse baião destemperado, como faz um bom soldado que não quer saber de guerra/ Meu verso corta mais do que peixeira, tem sabor de macaxeira e faz poeira levantar!

Ao lado de Iara, as Clarianas dão voz ao novo baião - Martinha Soares, Naloana Lima e Naruna Costa se propõem mais uma vez a investigar a voz da mulher "ancestral" na música popular do Brasil. 

A admiração do produtor com o Barbatuques é antiga. Afterclapp costumava ir aos shows do grupo nos SESC de São Paulo desde os anos 2000. Há um ano, o primeiro trabalho entre os dois foi lançado: um remix de “Do Mangue a Manga”, uma mistura quente de brasilidades com eletrônico. 

Os dois lançamentos saem pela da Gyra Records e estão disponíveis em todas as plataformas digitais.

Apaixone-se com força e leveza – essa é a proposta de “Por um Instante”, novo som de Afterclapp e Laura Padaratz. 
A faixa convida quem a ouve a se entregar a um beat sedutor, que mistura influências de future, afrobeat, neo soul e uma identidade brasileira forte, já muito presente no trabalho de Afterclapp. A voz e melodia ficaram por conta de Laura, que canta o que sente para que sua arte seja mais viva. 
Essa track tem como cenário o auge do verão e todos seus intangíveis, desde o calor da estação até a sensação de liberdade em sintonia com a segurança. Esses são os efeitos causados pelo single, com beats contemporâneos e bastante percussão, ideal para um mergulho profundo no presente.
A cantora e o produtor musical se conheceram há X anos. O processo criativo foi dividido em duas partes autorais, com o arranjo norteando a proposta até a dupla encontrar o encaixe com letra. A sonoridade é perfeita para uma playlist de brasilidades; um ambiente descontraído entre amigos, um date ou onde quiser!

Probleminha é o novo single de Afterclapp em parceria com Reple, lançada a tempo de marcar presença nas festas de ano novo e colocar todo mundo pra dançar, curtir, viajar e se entregar às sensações provocadas pelo som.

A faixa é uma mistura potente de música eletrônica com ritmos brasileiros - um pouco de funk, no melhor estilo contemporâneo – e elementos tribais africanos. A junção de todos esses estilos resultou numa daquelas músicas que nos convidam a fechar os olhos e se entregar às batidas do som, do tipo que não pode faltar em nenhuma festa ou balada com música boa. 

O nome sugestivo do single, aliás, é uma tradução do que todas essas vertentes da música eletrônica presentes na faixa provocam em quem ouve: um Probleminha daqueles bem gostosos de escutar e curtir. 

Até por isso, a única letra da track é: “Ai que gostoso”. E quem se atreve a discordar? É só fechar os olhos e se deixar levar por esse som pesado e cheio de brasilidades. 
“Probleminha” é um lançamento da Gyra Records e já está disponível em todas as plataformas digitais.

Tim Maia - Sossego (Afterclapp Remix)

“Oggun” is a rhythmic and spiritual dive that connects the dancefloor to ancestry. In this track, Afterclapp evokes the archetypal force of Ogum, the orixá of Afro-Brazilian culture associated with iron, technology, righteous war, and the opening of paths — but he does so in a non-literal way, transcending the obvious and creating a unique sonic language.

Combining elements of organic electronic music, ritualistic percussion, and processed timbres, the track builds a sound universe that is at once ancestral and contemporary. Its 6 minutes and 36 seconds unfold like a layered journey: hypnotic grooves, living textures, and whispered voices invoke the symbolic presence not only of Ogum but also of other orixás, manifesting the strength of Afro-Brazilian spirituality through sound.

“Oggun” is not just a dancefloor track — it is a rhythmic invocation, a vibrational experience that beats like a modern terreiro drum, opening paths with courage, intention, and frequency.

 “Rabecada” is the collaboration between DJ/producer Afterclapp and multi-instrumentalist FurmigaDub, delivering a unique fusion of electronic music and Brazilian folk tradition. At the heart of the track lies the rabeca, an ancestral fiddle from the northeast of Brazil, carrying centuries of oral culture, rituals, and celebrations.

Through modern beats, pulsing basslines, and hypnotic electronic textures, the rabeca becomes a bridge between past and future: its raw, organic, and emotional sound is transported into the club environment while preserving its soul.

“Rabecada” is ultimately a celebration of encounters – between folk and contemporary, regional and global, tradition and innovation. A track that invites listeners to dance, feel, and connect with the living energy of Brazilian music in dialogue with the world.
