Es ist eben so mit den Dingen, die anders sind alles andere, dass niemand mit ihnen rechnet, bevor sie da sind. So verhält es sich wohl auch mit dem Album ‚Momoko' des Elektropop-Trios DAS MAER, einem Sammelsurium aus allerlei unterhaltsamen und doch tiefgründigen Kuriositäten, erträumt in einer schlaflosen, isolierten Woche in der Mineaturmetropolis Heidenheim, das nun nach mehr als einjähriger Feinarbeit erscheint. Die Mär vom MAER beginnt mit einem Tanzbären, so unscheinbar zunächst wie drollig, der sich aus Berlin auf eine Reise durch den musikalischen Untergrund begab, auf viel Wohlwollen stieß und so aus einem Einweg-Projekt ein etabliertes Trio zauberte. Auf der anderen Seite der Geschichte steht nun das Debütalbum desgleichen in den Startlöchern: Momoko, der namensgebende Spielzeugroboter, inspirierte DAS MAER – bestehend aus Elektroszeneveteranen Yannek Maunz, Brascon und Johanson – zu einer Langspielplatte, die ihrer ersten Silbe würdig ist. Mehr als eine Stunde klangliches Kontrastprogramm – von Violine und Kinderchor bis TB-03 und Autotune – erwartet Hörerin und Hörer hier. Darin gebettet Geschichten, Fantasien und Klamaukgedichte übers Erwachsenwerden, Verliebtsein, Feiern, das Fahren im 40-Tonner oder im Nachtbus, manchmal herzzerreißend melancholisch, manchmal weltfremd optimistisch und immer mal wieder tief zwischen den Zeilen versteckt. Dem Credo ihres bisherigen Schaffens bleiben die drei Kollaborateure treu: immer der Intuition nach, Genre-Grenzen beherzt überschreiten und sich vor allem nie zu ernst nehmen. Da ist es nun also: Etwas, das so noch nie war und das sich doch so anfühlt, als hätte man es sich schon immer gewünscht

It was never too genre specific. Minimal, Melodic Techno, Downtempo, Indie Dance or Alternative Pop were discussed and celebrated among friends. We start the summer with Alaix Pulse and his ‚Cavalcade' EP. It contains three original tracks and one remix by Thommie G and one by apaj.
The title track ‚Cavalcade', which Alaix Pulse created in cooperation with Ju, stands out with its wonderful melodies and Ju's beautiful voice.
‚Existence', the second track of the EP, takes you on a journey through deep bass and playful soundscapes.
The last original track is called ‚Joie' and brings a rolling bass that keeps pushing forward. In the break, soft voices can be heard, which transport you to another sphere.
The first remix comes from Thommie G, who chose the song ‚Cavalcade'. He brings in a whole new drive with his version and knows how to use Ju's vocals skilfully.
The EP is rounded off with apaj's remix of ‚Existence'.
His version is darker than the original. It has a heavy bass that will make any dancefloor shake

Afterhour Sounds is since his begining in 2012 a crew of music lovers, music makers and music supporters. What started as an small idea developed over the years into an important institution in the field of electronic dance in and beyond germany. Our goal was and still is to enrich the world with different interpretations of the afterhour. 

In the beginning, we focused our passion on finding and supporting (un)known artists through blog posts, reposts and podcast contributions. Gradually, we expanded our sections to include live recordings and premieres. In-house releases and events were not long in coming. The crew changed, but the passion and spirit remained.
