Hiato Music is thrilled to present the label's first VA of 2024, Portal.  An exciting compilation that plunges listeners into a kaleidoscopic journey through the world of melodic techno.

"Portal" is a compilation of emerging artists in the global melodic techno scene, bringing an immersive blend of sounds and styles. Featuring a carefully curated selection of tracks from some of the most promising talents in the scene, this VA is a true celebration of diversity and innovation in electronic music.

Among the artists who contributed to "Portal" are some established members of the Hiato family, such as the talented Lökust, Alessio Pennati, and Mariz. Additionally, the VA also features new talents joining the Hiato roster, including Acrobatik, Benicci, MIKAA, Law of Physics and  Ed Lopes, as well as the already familiar players in the international market like  Mandraks and DJ Murphy. And let's not forget the thrilling worldwide debut of artists like Vemativ and Lead United, who bring a fresh perspective and energy to the musical landscape.

With expert curation by BLANCAh, the tracks on this VA are perfect for bringing energy and vibrancy to DJs' sets worldwide.

Mathame - Betsaida

"Alkahest is an hypothetical universal solvent, having the power to dissolve every other substance, including gold. It was much sought after by alchemists for what they thought would be its invaluable medicinal qualities. Paracelsus' own recipe was based on caustic lime, alcohol, and carbonate of potash. He believed that alkahest was, in fact, the philosopher's stone. After researching alchemy and their ancestor’s technique, Mathame now translate their findings into finding the perfect balance for the dance-floor.

Here Mathame provoke a reaction: delivering alcohol (Uawok Tong) and carbonate of potash (Opal Cithee), where lime is already in your body while dancing. Uawok Tong is a tune with deep pads, and a kick underneath complete with old, far-out melodies, tipping out of sync, that deliver you out of sobriety through chaotic harmonies.

In Opal Cithee, elements of both ambient and dance-floor tool meet together. The reaction is Alkhaest, where the melodies and story make something unique: groove and punchy bass solve everything…just like the alchemist’s stone.
Label head Tiefschwarz gave a relecture of the title track to complete the reaction .

"The talented Greek duo Voices OF Valley is back to Us & Them records with their strong melodic EP named ‘Away’ featuring Russian singer Eleonora. Smashing beats around the dark synths and all underlined with hypotonic vocals - it does bring you away to another space. The space of melodic techno.

The original track ‘Away’ sets the mood of the whole EP - characterized by its deepness, profond sound, truly dark atmosphere as well as catchy synth patterns. A strong combination of industrial sounds, cinematic synth and groovy drums which brings melodic techno to an another level. Upon all the magic the dreamy voice of Eleonora inviting you to join the endless melodic trip. 

On the remix side of the EP we have a team of powerful artists with their truly emotional interpretations of the track. The Iberian Muse joins forces with Wurtz and brings up a truly crushing version of the track combining energetic synth melodies, pumping beats and groovy bass lines in an ambient environment. The Brazilian duo add an industrial vibe to the track, which smoothly transforms into an epic underground dance floor hit. The duo Senses of Mind goes even heavier adding melancholic melodies upon heavy synths which turns the track into a explosive bomb for any techno lover. The last but not least, Un:Said comes in with a special touch of the track. Very detailed work on the drum sector, minimalistic synths and piano sounds. All this in a unexpected mixture of gentle and heavy, breaks and beats. Pure emotion and joy."
