This is Stephan's fourth appearance on the label in less than a year, but the first
collaboration with Yotto. With distinctive but synergic sounds, both artists are renowned for their ability to imbue their music with rich musicality and captivating rhythms. On 'New Era’ we are invited to join an odyssey into the infinite field of consciousness. The title track has the typical Yotto rippling rhythm that gallops along while drawing you into its orbit, whereas a melodramatic signature Stephan Jolk riff infiltrates your heart centre. On the flip ‘Only One’ takes a
more unassuming approach, the sombre tones complemented by the main melody which is melancholic, but at the same time uplifting. Dance music with pure soul at its core.

Anyma, a radical new multidisciplinary digital project from Tale Of Us innovator Matteo Milleri, arrives on Afterlife.

Matteo’s achievements with Tale Of Us need little introduction. Soaring to the highest heights of success, he is now exploring the realm of the metaverse with his hybrid persona, Anyma. The Sentient EP* signals the arrival of this integrative algorithmic consciousness. The title track holds true to the label’s progressive sound, with a percolating low end, emotive synth stabs and moments of deep contemplation. ‘Reminding’ features the wistful vocals of Rosa Anschütz, complemented by the propulsive energy of its bassline and urgent programming. A soaring breakdown takes us into the electrifying second half. ‘Fragments’ takes a more pensive stance, evoking melancholy melodies and deeply sombre tones, encouraging the listener to journey inward. Finally, ‘Omnia’ has that classic Afterlife sound, while offering a glimpse of our technology-driven future. Released exactly a year ago, the original was a deep, floaty and introspective affair released on Songspire. Now comes the reload. Boosted in energy, width and drive – in that classic emphatic way that Joris has made his signature over the years - but maintaining the emotion, sentiment and delicate tone of Celine Cairo’s beautiful vocal, it flips perspective on Mees’s original while paying full respect to soul and meaningfulness, taking it from a mid-set breather and moment of reflection to a peaktime flash of euphoria and positivity.

Just in time for Miami and the start of festival season, Joris’s remix follows Mees’s remix of Voorn’s own ‘Ryo’ released two years ago. We hope this complementary reboot relationship continues to blossom in the future…

Mind Against finally join the revered ‘fabric presents’ mix series, compilation out Friday 23rd September ahead of their extended set in the much-loved venue. On Saturday 24th September. 

The mix closes with their own ’Freedom’ with Dyzen. The track opens and continues a dialogue between the dreamy languor of emotion-rich synth chords evoking early noughties euphoria, and dog-whistle-pitched melodic phrases leaping and playing, over a strong but subtle multi-layered percussion, all pinned by a beat of silence in the midst. A soundtrack for blissed-out summer nights.

Portuguese producer Trikk and Dutch producer Collé remix ‘Summer & Smoke’; one of the standout singles from Cubicolor's latest album 'Sometime Not Now'.

Trikk, who has previously released on Innervisions, Lossless and Music Optima, draws on his diverse musical influences from his two homes of Porto and Mozambique, as well as the musical melting pots of Berlin and London, to create a memorable remix characterised by an extremely catchy lead synth.

Dutch DJ and producer Randy Collé is no stranger to the electronic music scene, having received a great deal of support from acts such as Solomun, Âme and Black Coffee. His remix, which has already been supported by 8Kays in her Afterlife set in Tulum, is designed for the dancefloor and has some epic and emotional moments.

'Making their Plaisirs Sonores Records debut are production duo, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, with an incredible three track EP called Lonely Space. The Colombian pair have collaborated for quite some time signing tracks to number of labels like Replug and The Soundgarden.

Opening with a cosmic weapon, 'Lonely Space' develops into an epic deep progressive journey filled with beautiful synth melody, female vocal, fx and hypnotic pads. Elegant and hypnotic from the first bar to the last. Next up, 'Orbital' digs deep too. Opening with more low end grunt, melodic arps float lift the mood midway before deep warm pads float into earshot. Musically rich and utterly satisfying. Finally, Alex O'Rion concludes the EP with an exquisite remix of 'Lonely Space'. Stronger and more intense, sonic fx and melodic patterns are balanced against the percussive bedrock leaving ample room for the main motifs to grow creating a sense of controlled peril.  '

Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat - Orbital (Original Mix)

A rising German talent steps up for his Drumcode EP debut.

We got the first taste of Thomas Hoffknecht’s gritty Detroit-inspired sound in 2020, with ‘Code-1’ and ‘Escaping’, both impressive contributions to the recent A-Sides compilations. In a year with few highlights, the producer’s induction into the Drumcode fold marked a distinct positive.

Inspired by visits to the Planetarium in his hometown of Hamburg, Hoffknecht’s ‘Antaris’ EP is an immersive five-track work that charts the breadth of his raw, yet captivating style. The title track is driven by a catchy organ-driven riff and marching percussion and is awash with atmospheric intensity. ‘Comet’ is propelled by energetic stabs and shuffling beats. ‘Sirius’ makes its mark with a shimmering synth-line and spoken word vocal, which adds to the track’s dream-like texture. ‘Wega’ is a low-end rattler that comes up for air thanks to a piercing vox sample that smacks of ‘90s rave flavour. ‘Regulus’ is cosmic techno at its finest, as swirls of intergalactic melody radiate a halcyon spirit.
