Afterlife’s 2023 campaign commences with this collaborative single from Argy and two-man outfit Goom Gum.

The trio get together for the first time on this cut, pouring their respective energies into a powerful composition. ‘Pantheon’ utilises a rousing vocal symphony, with a rolling bassline, an urgent melody and a goosebump-inducing breakdown to devastating effect.

Astral Records opens the month of April by welcoming Re-Type back to the label for a new single. Based in Belgium and made up of Pieter and Lucas, the Re-Type duo first emerged in 2021 with a release via Found Frequencies. Finding a nice balance between progressive and melodic house and techno, 'Reasons' firmly established Re-Type as a new duo to watch. 2022 found further successes for the duo, making their Astral Records debut in November with 'Drowning'. Featuring the vocals of Luke Coulson and backed by a remix from Axel Haube, the track would go on to receive support from Mind Against, Nick Warren and more. Now, presenting their first release of 2023, Re-Type returns to Astral Records with a new single entitled 'Home'.

Diversifying their portfolio further, Re-Type masterfully synthesizes their talents with well-known producer/vocalist Eleonora. Remarkably powerful, its dynamic groove commands attention, moving through rolling contours and rhythmic pulses, while flickering arps and ghostly vocal fragments add further colour leading into the main break. Adding an emotive slant to the narrative, the interlude melts down to a warm atmospheric glow, eventually revealing the full vocal, as euphoric synths convene around the emotive phrasing, before electric pulses summon the groove for an epic finale.

Kick-starting 2024 in emphatic fashion, Czech rising star Dominik Gehringer releases his highly-anticipated cut ‘Strange World’ on Purified Records. Revisiting Push’s iconic trance anthem, Dominik’s version enters a progressive dimension with masterful synth work and rumbling percussion and has already made a massive impact in sets around the world with its hypnotic presence. 

The ‘Strange World’ artwork showcases Daniel Nicholson’s spectacular still of a whale shark. Despite their imposing size, whale sharks exude an air of tranquility as they glide through the ocean, mouths agape to filter plankton-rich waters. These magnificent beings are not only the world’s largest fish, but they also hold a unique place in marine ecology as gentle filter feeders. Their longevity, reaching up to 70 years, has captured the attention of researchers keen on unraveling the mysteries of their lives. Organizations like the Marine Megafauna Foundation engage in vital conservation efforts, conducting research that not only aids in understanding the species, but also contributes to broader ocean health initiatives. Despite being filter feeders, whale sharks face threats like bycatch, boat strikes, and habitat degradation. Their slow reproductive rate makes them susceptible to population decline. They are listed as endangered according to the IUCN. 

Located on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, Daniel Nicholson is one of the globe’s most prominent professional underwater photographers. He seeks to share the beauty and magic of the underwater world to inspire conservation and change.
